@billybobhortons In the book it explains how the black marker (original one) was found. Nobody knows how it got where it is or who made it. The government is DETERMINED to unlock the secrets of how it works to better the world at all costs. They believe it is where humans originated from and is actually likely in the game's world. (in a way they are good guys). Around the marker people go crazy and have hallucinations. Ill comment myself for more info cause im out of comment space.

@hifatpeople The marker is the source of the necromorphs, and they are more of zombies than aliens because they infect and take over living people. Unitology is a religion that believes the marker is what created humans and is the passageway to a better life. But in the book you learn unitology is a bunch of bull shit made up by the government to cover up their research of the marker. When you get into it, you'll hear "altman" alot. Truth is he hated the marker and disbelieved in unitology.

it shows why the ship is adrift, what happened to the crew etc so like i said it's a great tie in for new and old players or people who just like a good animated film thats heartfelt as well as violent and disturbing to some.
