While I had tremendous empathy for "David" in this film, the question is, is it or he a sentient entity or is he just a machine running programs which give the appearance that he is self-conscious and experiencing real emotion? I see no way to come to a scientific conclusion one way or the other about this.

This movie really hits home, I balled like a baby! I remember spending my entire life trying to earn my mothers love and attention, but all my efforts were to no avail. No matter what I bought, learned, wore, or how I changed my appearance by losing loads of weight at a time.. she never treated me any differently.
