  • Please reply!right,I have a sanyo xatci vpc-cg10,I'm trying to mod it so I can get a fisheye for it,what size lens did you get?I'm thinking of buying the optika 37mm and like you say get the 40.5 to 37mm step down thing,is this ok?

  • i'm confused. is there a "fisheye" on the Xacti or is it a separate lens adapter?

what's the brand name and where can i buy one?

  • @MsBuBBLesvA There's no "fisheye" on the Xacti. You buy it separately.

If you want what I have, you buy a 0.3x Fisheye lens made by "opteka" with 37mm thread from amazon/ebay/bhphotovideo, and buy a 40.5 to 37mm step down ring.

There are better alternatives, but I chose opteka brand just because it's cheap ($100)

  • how much does it cost ??

  • @REDBULLISNOBULLSHIT about 100USD

  • hey man i have the Sanyo xacti hd1010 camcorder and im looking for a new fisheye lens. I notice Sanyo makes there own 0.4x fisheye lens but the one you have in this vid looks great! And i notice yours is 0.3x....Im wonderin if the opteka baby death lens will work with my hd1010 ? You also say there is an adapter that is needed? do you mind sending me a link to where i could buy both of these items....thanx

  • A helpful video indeed. I want to get two cameras then merge the footage together to simulate how we see things. What lens should I get?

    Many thanks

  • @alfaalex101

lens won't matter for your application.

i just use these lense to get wider field of view....

if you google "xacti 3d" there should be a vimeo link of what you're trying to achieve.

oh and i guess to actually contribute to your question, that 0.3x fish eye gives me the sense of watching-thru-my-eye sort of perspective (minus the 3d effect since i dont own the extra equipment to actually do it.). the only downside is the distortion around the edges.. (which is kinda cool imo.. )

  • your video helped me alot

what brand and how much was your fisheye lens?

  • Brand is "opteka" and it cost me around $100.

i had to use 40.5mm to 37mm step down ring/converter.

if you can spare extra cash, though, go for 'century' brand. they're around $300 and is a lot better in quality.

  • wow you just saved me so much trouble

ive been tryin to get help everywhere

one more thing: did you have to pay for the converter ring seperately?

    thanks again :)

  • ya.

i bought the ring from different seller since the store that sold me the fisheye didn't carry them for some reason.

the shouldn't cost you more than 5 bucks.

i use the 0.5x wide angle majority of the time since the default lens has very limited viewing angle.. and it also uses the converter ring, so i just keep the ring on all the time and swap between fisheye and wide angle.

  • once again, thank you so much

and i promise is my last question

when im on ebay the lens are all the same yet they have different mm's

what works best with my sanyo? a 37mm fisheye?

  • no problem.

i personally chose 37mm because many camcorders in my price range were using that lens size.. sony, canon, etc, which means once i have the step down ring, i can use whatever they're using as sanyo is not the most popular camcorder.

  • what size are the threads on the sanyo xacti hd1010 cause on a website it says 49 and here it says 40.5? thanks

  • @KevinDunbarf

40.5mm is the thread size on the sanyo xacti hd1010.

the 49mm may have been the lense size, not the thread size.

  • Thx

  • I like the fisheye lens. Thanks for making and posting the video!
