  • Just so you know that's an IDE internal hard drive, and also please get your terms right if you intend to make a tutorial

  • wish i knew this 10 years ago

  • @pspsharez what if I don't know if there is anything on the hdd will it still work? I just pulled this old ibm hard drive out an old 98 pc...also how many games do you think 10gb would hold? also will any flash drive work?

  • OK I've done everything you asked me to, I get to the part where you have to go from the USB to the PS2, and when I load this I have NO files showing up for me to uncrush... H e l p !!

  • @ironhead82 same here

  • Damn I hate the lack of the expansion bay on the slim! Seriously HD combo is cool and a great alternative, but costs almost as much as the console it's self (depends though, my slim was $40). Anyway I'd rather use a USB on OPL or set a net connection for it since my phat's officially broken ^_^;

  • i have game shark and it says i can do wat the action replay can do but i dont know how to do it

  • IDE PATA 3.5inch

  • thank you this was a great guide and still is.

  • what model action replay for ps2 i know there may be a few releases

  • thats not a external harddrive an external hard drive goes out side and is a usb hard drive

  • i use HD Advance. you can even load codebreaker and game cheats. then load hd advance.

those screws are that big because it was made to use a nickle to screw them in. put in a nickle you'll see that its perfect for those screws.

    HD Advance is much easier.

    good video tho. thumbs up!

  • Awesome vid the most easy tutorial on this on YouTube thanks so much.

  • lol why a psp

  • only program? not really theres also code breaker if u can get one thats how i got my cog swap on my mem card

  • It would be better if you coul put how to get the programs of the computer!

  • where do you get the two .elf files? i checked the forum, but didn't have any luck. thanks.

  • So does the PSP need to be hacked/modded to use it this way, or can you do it with a regular, straight PSP?

  • Great guide!

I have been looking for something fun to do and this looks pretty sick!

Great job making this video. I hate having to pause and rewind all those super fast guides that can skip steps. This guide is perfect because we get to see you actually modding your ps2 yourself.

Once again, great guide and great job! =)

  • Very kool

do the games load faster now cuz there being boot up on a HDD?

  • wow i didnt know u could do this with a ps2, ive done something similar to my xbox. and xbox has waaaay more possibilities than just saving games to ur HDD... kickass vid, now all i need to do is find a network adapter and i'll try this.

  • do i really need a network card for the harddrive ? if i need one, where can i buy ?

  • Gamestop recently now takes in the Network Adapter, so you can call around at your local Gamestop for a used one!

  • ebay

  • do you need to hard-modded ur ps2 to play games from HDD? and is there any specific reason to rename File_New to BADass-system? thanks

  • No, everything I did is all you need to do, which doesn't require any actual Hardmodding.

  • i need help i have all the tools and have followed the video step by step but when i have to save the file in ps2 save builder i cant save it as a .max file what do i do

  • If by you can't save it as .max because there isn't an option too, I'm sorry but maybe find a more up to date save builder, but which it should let you save as .max because it's the exact same version tool I used. If you gives you an error, then my only suggestion is re-download/install.

  • i have also tried free mc boot but cant get it your video seems much easier i just cant save it as a .max file i have windows vista on my laptop but i have also tried it in windows xp but still have problems

  • internal, not external.

    and update it with fmcb

  • hey can you or someone else please send me the links to download the ps2 soft ware stuff to my pc?

  • Yeah, freemc boot is alot better, you dont even need a PS1 game to boot it up

  • mc boot 1.8 is better

  • Kick ass video. Fantastic job!

  • thanks and awesome video ^_^ 5 stars =D

  • few quick questions,,, would i have to do all this even if i had the "offcial ps2 hard drive"? and how do you save games? when you save does it save onto the hard drive? or still to the memory card? or do i have to have another memory card pluged into slot 2? also do i have to have a ps1 game in (like crash bandicoot) every time i boot up the system to bring up hd loader so it will give me the game list thing? also is there a spacific typ of memory card to use or can i use any?

    awesome vid =D

  • Quick question, does it HAVE to be an external HDD, or can it be a interl IDE HDD? Also..can you format the HDD on a computer if you have it setup raid?

  • Internal is fine, and you can format on your PC. But HDD loader also formats!

  • Yeah I know that but I don't have a modded memory card to do so. It's hard enough getting a ide HDD tower. They do make IDE to USB adapters right?

  • Another question - do you have to do anything to the .iso files when you load them on the HDD?

  • I haven't done that process, but you shouldn't have to. I'm not sure about the usb adapter, check out newegg. They might have what you're looking for.

  • did you just copy the game files to the HDD when you did it?

  • No, I used my own discs and HDD Loader ripped them.

  • hm. Is there anyway you can tell me what kind of files they are?

  • .ISO or CUE

  • Is ISO better or should I go with CUE?

  • crash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD awesome lol

  • can u do this with gameshark?

  • I think you can, but it becomes a different process all together. So this process would in no way be similar to the Gameshark one.

  • damn...that sux...theirs no uncrushing feature either only a zipping feature..i tried it and it doesnt work....

  • Good luck finding a new IDE hard drive off ebay now days.

  • I dunno about ebay, but it's REALLY easy to find on newegg.

  • Cool man.

  • Glad you like!

  • very informative

  • Thank you!

  • pcool

  • Thanks!
