This is kind of a stupid question but what do you do with the geese. I know killing them is allowed for population control but do you guys eat them after you kill them or is it just for sport that you do it.
@ctgolfer Okay that's cool I respect that. I thought it was messed up to kill just for fun but killing for food in my opinion is completely natural. I wish I could go hunting some day.
Hey great great video,,,,,,,,, i am from PAKISTAN,, we have small games here like partridges, rabbits, etc, but geese are kind of rare. It's really nice to watch this video though.
i want to here about that yellow neck collar!` i love the video and tell me your son got that band! oh and on that note missouris youth season is the 24 and 25 everything is open for the youngsters! weve got something special brewing with this weather here. ducks everywhere! let me know
YA, he got the neck band, you can see that birn dump on the second flight, its much clearer on the originol footage, we called it in, waiting for the roport, kinda cool dumping a neck banded bird your first leagel time out. Our youth season is Monday, getting the duck decoys out, we own a great swamp that is loaded with woodies and teal right now, we will let those suckers humbel him a little, his head is kida fat right now after that goose hunt!
Great video! makes me want to go hunting right now! My son is almost old enough. He doesn't know it yet, but he's getting a single shot .410 next month. Just got myself a new 12 gauge. I'll put up some vids soon.
It is very exciting when your kid get old enough to do this stuff with you, enjoy every minute of it with him, they grow out of the 41.0 so fast, great gun though. That is a 12 ga. with 3" mag shells my 12 year old is useing, he went through the .410 and 20 ga so fast. He loves this Semi auto Super Waterfowler he is shooting.
It's great that you are sharing that time with your son. Who knows, maybe he'll be sharing his own time with his son in the same way some day. Let's hope that is still an option when our grandkids are old enough.
I'm going to take my whole family out shooting this Sunday. The family that shoots together just plain has more fun!
Looks like you all had a great time. What shot size you like to use??? My buddy bert and I had an early goose hunt as well. What type of crop is that?? They love them peas in these here parts.
Hey, ya it was great, we used 2 and 3 shot because it is early season and their down is not too thick yet, works fine, we will go to T shot later. This is in harvested corn field.
Very interesting. Not much corn in these here parts. They like to feed on pea fields andI grain fields here in north alberta. is their a lead shot in affect in the USA???
I dont know why Jacky has not been around, go clue her in, maybe she is civil all of a sudden? I dont think they call them geese in Scandinavia, they are called Robins.
Ya, a tree jumped right in front of him, hard rain, sharp corners and a few Budwiesers on the way home from fishing. He is a great ,hardworking kid, just a bad night but he maned up and made it to the goose blind 6 am the next day.
Most every one here would like to twist Jacki's neck, just thought it fit, Rock and Kenbob didnt even catch it!
He was useing the semi auto superwaterfowler with 3" shell, maybe I should step him up to 3 1/2" tomorrow morning, may be pushing it, no black and blue yet! What do you think? Got to get the wife to let him be late for school again tomorrow, may be a tough sell.
This is not a one shot type shoot, you want to get back on the birds asap, I think the 3 1/2 may throw him off so much he would not have a chance to get doubles or triples on the geese. Just thinking that way, maybe I am wrong.
No your right ct it's not a one shot deal....You might want to keep him using the 3" shells.....Looking more into it I would most likely have my boy's using 3' for waterfowl also if we hunted them....
Our resident bird season is designed to reduce the population of birds that stay here and not migrate south, they are over populated and causing damage.
Isn't that a hoot? Only did it a few times, but it was a kick in the behind every time. Don't know why I don't do more of it to tell you the truth. I guess its because it runs simultaneous with our deer and elk seasons. Great job.
Dang it man, I'm missing out on all the fast paced heart pounding goose action this year. What a thrill! I find the Jackie spin technique to be quite effective LOL. Great commentary and I always enjoy the introduction of the hunters. Awesome awesome awesome!
Okay, okay, I started dancing my ass off to the cool music, then you started getting serious. That was some cool hunting there.Tell Todd I'm leaving the most beautiful state in the country, to move to Conn. That was a very cool video! No wonder you don't reply to my comments, you are busy!
beats getting up and just going to school. You should get that kid a dog. I hear 12 year old girls love boys with dogs. Chick Magnets! good boy Michael

Ya, no lead here, all of USA for waterfowl. Steel shot has to do it.
ctgolfer 2 years ago
Yup, only steel shot here in Ab as well for migratory game bird. What a shame. Not near as effective.
