  • I love the wallpaper. haha where did you get it? because im painting my room and id really like that wall paper or that green one with pink flowers! :)

  • @TheMariahd1 It's fabric, not wallpaper unfortunately. Option A- make an upholstered wall, with fabric panel blocks mounted to the wall in which case you can use this sort of asian brocade fabric. Or I know of an Australian brand of wallpaper that does this sort of Chinoiserie print. If you look up Florence Broadhurst wallpapers, sold at Signature Prints. It's expensive though. Or do a google search on "chinoiserie wallpaper". Hope that helps!

  • i love your work!!

  • I would really love to see vintage pinup make-up on a dark girl...i've always been facinated by the pinup look, just don't really know what colours to use, because im dark, its really frustrating to find colours that suit me,please post a tutorial,Thank You !

  • This is one of the next tutorials I want to do too. One for darker skin and one for asians, because I've had so many requests! I've got a couple of models I've been begging to come and help out. I'll keep working on them!

  • @sourcurdz same here!

  • hi amy! what was that liquid you put into the eye shadow? 2 drops of what? thanks! amazing look!

  • Cake line sealer. You can also use mixing medium, or even wet your brush. I find the cake line sealer (oh, it's from Napoleon Perdis) has the staying power. Another sealer is Benefit's Shelaq

  • I have enough "beauty spots" already without drawing extra ones in :(

  • Aww that is so cute!!! I love it!!!

  • i love teased hair

  • ilove the hair styles u do, u should make sum more hair tutorials please . :DD

  • just wondering, where do you get those cute backgrounds and the pinup girls in the beguinning of your movies with the text behind them? Do you make those? They are so cute :D

  • Yeah, I made those ones with photoshop. I might do some and add them to the wallpaper section of my website. I'll speak to the graphic designers about putting them up for me.

  • Great looks Amy and your models are so bloomin beautiful!!!! xoxo

  • very.cool.GOOD.JOB

  • hi amy...i love this look!i have a problem, my skin is quite oily and after a while my eyeshadow disapears, just wondering if i can fix it using a makeup sealer or a paint. Which one do you recommend? napoleon's, benefit's shelak or mac bare canvas paint? Can i use it on my entire eyelid area? Most of my eyeshadows are from dior, Is it ok?

Thanks. You are an amazing artist.

  • THank you!

I use both mac bare canvas paint (a small amount) and Napoleon's cake line sealer when I need extra staying power. Make sure also you have some sort of powder on your eyes (like a bit of translucent powder) on your skin before you apply the paint. I find if I put the paint straight on my skin it creases within a couple of hours.

  • You have such a steady hand! Everytime I put liquid eyeliner on, my hand moves and I get it all over my face! I love your videos - you'r amazing! Fancy coming round to my house to do my makeup every morning?!

  • amy,i love this look. but i have 2 questions.

firstly when u applied that shimmery goldish powder on the LIDS, u mixed somethin with something else 2give it a bit more shimmer, wat is the name + shades of the products u use?

and secondly, the brown shade u used in the crease, what is the shade called? because i definately want this exact luk so i want 2 use the exact same shades u did! plz answer asap =) x

  • I list all the makeup I use in the description text to the right of the video. You might just need to click on the "more": button to get the full text.

The brown eyeshadow is from Napoleon Perdis, but as my luck would have it, they don't sell it anymore. I am trying to find a shade that is exactly the same as this. I'm going to do a video soon that talks about some of the alternatives to regular products I use.

  • Does the cakeline sealer make the eyelid feel stiff or sticky? I'd like to use a product like this but I want to make sure there's no obvious texture on the skin.

  • Not at all. At first it feels wet on your eye. I just keep me eyelid closed or stretched out, and don't blink till it dries (takes a few seconds) and then it feels dry and like normal eyeshadow.

  • you're going to think I'm wierd, but I just love your tweesers!

  • The model is so beautiful

  • i love the make-up, but how did you do the hair? I am trying to find out how to do Deta Von Teese style hair but not having much luck. i have very long here, and fringe about 3 or 4 inches long, but i just cant seem to do it.

    love your videos :)

    xox

  • Look for tutorials on victory rolls or reverse rolls

  • hi i love the hair ribbon. just wondering where you got it

    thanks

  • From Spotlight, the arts/crafts/material store here. Cheap $2 ribbon. The thing to look for is for the ribbon to be quite stiff, it will hold your hair in, and the bow will stay in place.

  • Awesome, thanks i'm going to spotlight tomorrow! :)

  • Oh my God! I really love this look. So pretty with pinks and golds. The beige shimmer looks amazing with the baby pink lip tone. Beatufiful and very artistic!

  • her hair is freaking cool

  • hey amy... how do you do this look on people with a darker skintone...I have a friend who I want to do this look on... is it possible??? also do you have a look for makeup from the 60's???

  • It is the first thing I am going to do when I get my hands on a darker skinned model. I've had so many requests for retro looks for darker skin.

  • YAY

  • She looks amazing, that came out beyond -Quick question would this work on on tan complexions to?

  • pink is my FAVORITE color<3

    i loveeeeeee the tweezers<3

  • this would make a nice day look! = ]

  • My day look... the day look where I have a little extra time to paint my face.... is not far off this!

  • Hi Amy!

I saw your reply, so your gonna do a Lauren Conrad make-up vid. Did you already filmed it ?

  • Hi Amy! Great job! I just have a question and I figured you'd be the best to ask. I want to achieve a nude lip but my lips are dark and I've heard you can use a concealer or foundation to put on your lip before you apply a lipgloss. Is this safe for your lips? I use mac's studio finish concealer and mineralized satinfinish liquid foundation. Thank you! <3

  • Oh yeah, completely safe! Just dab concealer on your lips and you're good to go. I usually just apply it to the darker outer lip area, and not cover the whole lip. But it really does depend on how dark your lips are.

  • Hi!

i totally love all your videos. your way of making different makeup looks is very unique!

I have a question. Do you reuse your false eyelashes? if so, how many times?

greetings from Denmark in europe (:

  • MOst of the time for these vids, the girls walk out the door with them on, so I don't get them back!!!! But yes, you can reuse them. I reuse my more expensive ones, and I can reuse them about 3 or 4 times. I gently clean them with makeup remover, and pick off any glue with the help of tweezers.

  • You are very good. ;) You videos are very interesting and modern!:))

  • c'est beau !!

  • omg that is soo beautiful i love pink but they never look good on me since am dark a NW43 in studio fix

  • would this look good with red lipstick?

  • Definitely so!!!! I do this look but with red lipstick when I am going for a retro/vintage/pinup look. This is my party face!

  • i love make-up i love mac im 17 love pinup girls bette page look and do beehives and i loooe liquied eyeliner i love doing im so steady ur brillent keep doing ur thing my darline

  • what is the thing you mix with the eye shadow?

  • Napoleon Perdis Cake Line Sealer.... like Benefit's Shelaq. It's a sealer that turns shadows to liners. Similarly you could use Mac's mixing medium (or make your own mixing medium!)

  • Hello!

Just wanted to know what type of brush you used to apply the brown eyeshadow to the brow bone....

    Thanks!

  • It's a Napoleon Perdis brush that they don't make anymore!!! So annoying. IT's the best brush.

  • hey amy...i LOVE your work. i am an MUA too and i am have a little trouble with creases and blending as well, but i think it's because of the brush that i am using.

what is the brush that you use for crease/browbone to apply the brown eyeshadow?

    i need it!

and it looks like it works like a dream!

    thanks!

  • It's a Napoleon Perdis brush. They don't make this particular one anymore. I'm sure they'd have something similar. I'm keeping my eye out for a good alternative.

  • Amy, are you going to make a video of Lauren Conrad's makeup and hair? It would be so cool =)!

  • Yes!

  • wow ur model looks sooooooo good in this look

  • hello!! Im needing help on looking for the right color of my face..I dont want to look too caky or fake? Where can I go to get my skin color matched to the right color? Im clueless

  • she looks so beautiful!

I am going to use this look for my next photoshoot!

    thank you!

  • I always like how gentle you are with your models. Some makeup artists act like they're painting a lifeless wall instead of a living girl's delicate face! Thank you!! All makeup artists should take a lesson page from your technique and be gentle with their models!

  • Thank you. It's important to remember it's not my face, so there is some reverance required!

  • can you put up a video on how do do that hair? I love it!!!

  • so i have two questions...

im tan skinned.....so do i still use an off white base? or a tan one? and what about the highlighter?

secondly....what exactly is the inner palette...because i have noticed that you have said that quite often

  • It depends on how tanned your skin is. I would say that Summer and I have tanned skin. We are the same foundation shade. If you are similar to us, then these colours will work on you. If you are darker, the you could go for a colour like Stila's Kitten eyeshadow as your base colour, go for a warm brown eyeshadow in the crease and then a gold/peach shimmer on the lid.

Inner palette? I'm not sure what you mean. I don't remember saying this? Let me know!

  • you say it when you take about the lips...you say you put gloss on the inner palette

  • Inner "pout". When I am talking about putting lipgloss on the lips, I say just put it on the "inner pout" to make your lips look bigger or more dimensional.

  • she is saying "inner pout", on your lips

  • i love this look!

and i was just wondering where do u get the hair accessories from and if you could plz do some hair tutorials.the makeup and hair u do is awesome!

  • how would you do rene zellweger's makeup in the movie Down With Love?

  • Like my Audrey Hepburn video. The emphasis is on lashes and eyeliner. Love the movie. I love her apartment in it!

  • I love your videos! You said that it's ideal to have 1 pink and 1 orange-beige blush. But the ones that i have don't look good on me. I use studio tech c30 and I have brown eyes. Please tell me what color would be good for me.

  • I'll get back to you! I don't have my makeup kit near by to look at colours.

  • Hi Amy,

I was wondering if I can place some of your tutorials on my website/blog?

Thank you for the great tutorials, they're really working!!!!

  • Of course you can!

  • Okay Thank you so much ;)!

  • ooooh where can i get some of those glasses ey?

  • I got them from this rock and roll wear store on ebay. They cost me about $15.

  • i love your videos they are very helpful. I was wondering if u could please make a tutorial on that hair style because i really want to wear my hair that way for prom.

    Please and thank u <3

  • Amy,

You are truly an artist!! This vid is absolutely breathtaking. Would it be possible to post the exact makeup products you used for Megan's eyes? Keep up the fantastic posts!!!!!!!!! A big fan

  • I always post the EXACT products I used in my vids in the description text above, to the right of the video. As I talk about in my FAQ video, it means a lot to me that I don't hide anything from you. I know how frustrating it is when you want to replicate a look (eg. in a magazine) and they say they used some particular product and you know they didn't!

  • Amy,

You are a true artist. I've been looking for this look forever. Wow!! You have me speechless. It there anyway for you to post the makeup that you used. I went to the beauty counter to find similar but I couldn't match them the way you have. Pleeeeease keep the gorgeous vids coming. You are so talented.

  • What is the name of that liquid you used to make the shimmer stand out? Also how exactly do you use it?

  • Napoleon Perdis "Cake Line Sealer", it's like Benefit's "Shelaq".

I've done this is a few vids (check out the Barbie vid for a clear demonstration). I add two drops into the lid of my shimmer, apply a bit of shimmer. You want the mixture to be sort of pastey... not too runny and thin, and not too thick. It should apply really smoothly, like paint.

  • I love this! =D It's adorable, wearable, and vintage!

Where are the contest details? I hope everything is alright!

  • it's just awesome..i love the hair soo much! could/will you do a vid about this hair-do?

    <3

  • Ooh, so glad new videos are up! Gorgeous style! I was wondering what kind of foundation/general makeup brand would you recommend to a student on a budget? I'm definately going to try this style out tomorrow!

  • Hmmmm... I have never been too keen on the cheaper foundation products, but if I were to suggest any of them it would probably be L'Oreal. If you can spare a few extra bucks, I recommend Mac or Stila.

  • WoW,nothing else to say..just so incredible =]]

i really love the style and Megan is so prretty as she always<3

  • Nice work! Love the heavier eye with a paler lip.

  • oh my goodness! are those glasses from route 66? i have the exact pair in black :P

but more importantly gorgeous video- i love make up and this is just great ♥♥

  • I got them on ebay! From a little rock and roll swing costume shop from Queensland.

  • I am love with your videos! So classy and cute! I have been applying some of your looks and keep getting double takes and questions from the girls on what I am doing different!! hehe.

  • Great job...

Just wondering why you do a shadow BEFORE the primer? Does it work better this way?

  • WOW Amy, This look is so sweet and sexy at the same time. I wish I looked like your friend. She has the most perfect skin complection and beautiful eyes.

  • amy love all your work its amazing, masterpieces, just wondering if you could help me i have almond eyes, what tips can you give me to make my eyes look larger?...any suggestions?

  • oh my gosh your back yay :) xxxx

  • I love all of your videos but please do some hair ones too??

    =D

  • gosh amy.. you make me fall in love with napoleon perdis! Sadly to say i've been searching high and low, this product is not available over here =(

Anyway I've just got the Stila kajal eye liner you used in your previous video.. it's great! thanks Amy~

  • Your makeup videos are my fave!

But in a lot of them, you have backdrops.

I was just wondering how you do them? If they are just wall coverings or paper or something

  • They are pieces of fabric taped to the wall with masking tape!

  • I was wondering the same thing. That's a good idea! I thought it was wallpaper, haha.

  • Absolutely Lovely...I love the shimmer, it really stands out

  • I love all of your make up tips...but, Puuuhhhlleeeease would you also do a few vintage hair videos?? I need some hair tips to go with my beautiful makeup! Thanks for all you do! Your fans appreciate it! Great job on the web site by the way! :o)

  • i love amy b. she's great!

  • wah breed is ur dog? its so cute :]]

  • It's a papillon. This one and the pomeranian you see in other vids are my mum's. Isn't she gorgeous, little Bindi. She's such a little princess!

The little puppy papillon and the king charles cav/cocker spaniel are mine.

  • WONDERFUL! What a beautiful gift to everyone here. I love to be inspired and this video just did that! I cannot describe what I felt when I saw that beige shimmer, the pale pink lipstick and the graphics; they were a match made in heaven! Impeccable editing techniques and graphics. You are incredible!

  • I love this look, I did it for Valentines Day and it ROCKED!

  • This is beautiful, and your model is absolutely gorgeous.

  • love love love this!!!xx

  • Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!! You are always a delight to watch!

  • I had to watch it again! I LOVE IT! AND I LOVE HER HAIR ^___^

  • hooooooooray welcome back amy!!!

what a great vid and i just love, love, loveeee her hair!!!!

  • Megan is beautiful (and so are you) the makeup really suits her. Rauuuww... ;o)

I would love if you could do a tutorial on how to put eyeshadow on a little heavy eyelids. I really don't think I can wear eyeshadow in my crease - it looks so crabbed (hope this is the right word) or greasy when I look myself in the mirror.. On the other hand I would like to create debt in my crease.

Love to watch your videos keep up the good work girls.

  • omg i love the song

    what's it called?

  • The songs are listed at the end of the video. There are about 3 songs.

  • Wow, I wish I had here eye structure...

  • ok thank you soo much and i understood it anyway lol

  • will you ever do tutorials for hair styles? because i love the way their hair looks in the videos :).

  • I will do a video on this hairstyle. We didn't have enough memory space for me to record it last time.

  • this is a gorgeous look! i love it Amy

  • hi amy i was just wondering if you could do a christina aguilera kind of look. You know ther one with red lipstic and curly hair. If you can thankyou sooooo much. Megan looks so pretty, and i love the way you do yours, megans and summers makeup! thanks again xxx

  • I've got Summer coming over for a shoot tomorrow, and I can't decide between the Christina sort of look or some other things I was thinking about. If I don't get round to soon.

  • Hahaha... my comment made no sense!

I meant If I don't get round to it tomorrow, I will do it soon!

  • Wow! What a beautiful tutorial! She looks so different with make-up. She still looks gorgeous without it though!

  • I just added this to my favorites. Meagan looked great. Can you do a tutorial on her hair? Pleeeeeeease?

  • What a great video! Megan looks beautiful. I do have a question, though. Why do you apply the bare canvas paint on top of the first layer of eyeshadow? I'm really just curious, I only know the basics of makeup application. :)

  • I get asked this question often. I like for there to be a layer between my oily naked eyelid and the bare canvas for it to adhere to. If I put the paint on my naked eyelid, and then my eyeshadow on top, my eye makeup will still crease and slide. If I put a sheer layer of shadow before it, it doesn't crease at all.
