Because Derek is a minor, ONLY his parents can contact YouTube and/or the police to complain. Before doing so, they should contact a civil liberties lawyer to understand his rights and the correct charges to place. This may be something they are unwilling to do, since they hardly approve of his activities as it is. NO CHILD whether any of us like him or not should EVER have to be bullied or threatened like this.

Just a little warning: Voicing allegations about somebody can also be a felony. (Libel/defamation) Not that I defend anybody here. I do not know the facts and therefore can't comment on any of it. What Rob says might be true or might not.

Not a lawyer are you? Libel and defamation are not criminal acts. You can get sued, you can't go to jail for them. So they can't be felonies.

Why would somebody think they have they right to do that in the 1st place???? If you look at who they follow in Twitter (the tweets are protected now) they follow folks like Paris Hilton and Perez Hilton. Like you can take them for serious.

How amazing the individual has put his twitter account on private. Thank you Rob, for your update on this sick matter with Derek. We have seen what this coward will do to a kid, let's see what he'll do with adults with badges.

Thanks for sharing the information on what happened with Derek. I knew it was something like this -- I suppose it could have been even worse but this was bad enough. The Internet is both a marvelous resource and at the same time something that can potentially threaten your physical and/or mental well-being.

Weird. That is really scary. Its sad to hear about this kind of stuff happening to such a nice kid. Hopefully they will find the guy who did this and lock him up.

I've always thought that youtube is a great place for people to find and / or communicate with people like themselves. In other words, a pretty possitive thing. But I guess incidents like this are the down side of it. Hopefully everything will work out for Derek.

Thank you for sharing about Derek. It has been hinted at on other channels, but I now know the story. Thank you. I have told people when you post online and do things online be careful. People say and do things they would not normally do if it were in person. Sadly, there is something to be learned from this.
