Queen didn't just experiment with vaudeville and opera , the first tash metal and speed metal song is credited to them ( Stone Cold Crazy), so is the first rap songs ( Another one bites the dust, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You) They played rock, opera, blues, jazz, soul, funk, pop, progressive rock, gospel, hard rock, metal... what did Zep do???
@fat8622 What they did in the 80's was beginning to create music from every style. Led Zeppelin did not make it to the 80's so they didn't have to turn pop and tecno to keep popular. Queen was on the run for nearly 20 years, they have experienced all kind of music changes including the 80's tecnomania, and they succeeded becoming the best band of all time. Led Zep wasn't even around for 10 years, they never had Queen's experience and always played the same old rock n roll. Big Deal!

sorry but this looks like a 10 year old had a go with a computer.."Bohemian Rhapsody" was only freddie singing..he sang every part alone and did the backing himself..and no they didnt all have great voices, john couldnt sing at all almost. brian had a very thin voice and Roger could not work as the main singer..ever..but i do agree Queen is surely the most versatile and impressive rock band ever..

They don´t sold 1.000 millon albums/singles like The Beatles, but they was far more versatile and musically and technically superior. Brian May is pioneer in many tehcinchs, he is the real inventor of the tape techinc " It´s Late" ( NOTW). Brian May has a disctinctive and unique sound and a home mad unique guitar ( Red Special). Queen are known for being one of ( if not the best) the best live bands. Queen is a pioneer in many genres, incl Metal (SHA),hip hop (AOBT). All of Queen wrote at least 1# hit... the list goes on

@TheJumpyPopcorn First of all he could only sing 3.5 he could never get the fourth one fully, and the reasons are the best in my opinion is because they created the first metal song (helter skelter) the vocal range of paul is much more then of freddie's, George introduced the world to the east indian style of music, John Lennon is one of the greatest men ever, and Ringo's style of drumming is in perfect beat and works great with the rest because he wouldnt play heavy if they were singing.

I just wanted to say that I agree with everything you said about Queen! They are the best! I recently re-discovered them ( a few months ago) when I saw a cover band for them. And have been listening to them ever since. Did you get to see them when they went on tour with Queen +Paul Rodgers? Or maybe earlier when Freddie was with them? I'd love to hear all . I just saw the Live Aid performance where Freddie completely steals the show. Incredible!!

Today it takes artists 4 years before they release something new. Not a year went by in the 60's when The Beatles did not have an album out. Every fucking year they had one or albums out! Help with great songs like Yesterday on and then Rubber Soul (an album that inspired Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds) were released in 1965 - in one year!!!!!!! That is just incredible, and after that in less than a year Revolver!!!
You can count Queens well known best songs on less than 10 fingers! Whereas with The Beatles you would need a few more fingers to count their great songs. That's a fact - they just flow out Let It Be, Yesterday, Hey Jude, Something, Here Comes The Sun, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, Strawberry fields, A Day In Life, Sgt Pepper or earlier songs like All My Loving, Can't Buy Me Love, Help - it just goes on and on and on!
Anyway maybe I will leave this topic as it's for Queen! But still would love to hear about your life in the the 1960's and all the bands you saw - even if you think they were crap!!!! I have no problem with you saying that because in the 1960's touring had a long way to go! You could not hear the music because of the screaming, tiny amps, tiny stage and I imagine the Beatles would have been rushed on to the stage to just a few songs - Maybe 8 songs and then they would have been rushed off again!
And I think you are getting mixed up about McCartney only playing 3 chords! Please show me proof of this ? Because I read one of the things that impressed Lennon when they first met in 1958 is that he knew all the chords and could tune a guitar! @FREDDIEMANIAC Funny I was reading yesterday that one of the first things that impressed Lennon on his first meeting with McCartney in 1958 was that he knew all the chords on guitar and was able to tune one with ease! I doubt you know it but McCartney is a very highly rated bass player in rock! So much so that people like Ian Brown of The Stone Roses and Ozzy Osbourne have asked him counless times to play on their records!

All the beatles wrote more than 1 song each that went to number 1, they are better singers as a group, sold more albums, were so popular that it was impossible to play live as the crowd was so loud! Queen has the greatest singer ever, Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time, Brian May (THAT BUILT HIS OWN GUITAR), one of the youngest bassists to have such success, John Deacon, that became famous with the age of 19, and Roger Taylor that besides his awesome drums, has a stunning voice.

Queen didn't just experiment with vaudeville and opera , the first tash metal and speed metal song is credited to them ( Stone Cold Crazy), so is the first rap songs ( Another one bites the dust, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You) They played rock, opera, blues, jazz, soul, funk, pop, progressive rock, gospel, hard rock, metal... what did Zep do???

@fat8622 What they did in the 80's was beginning to create music from every style. Led Zeppelin did not make it to the 80's so they didn't have to turn pop and tecno to keep popular. Queen was on the run for nearly 20 years, they have experienced all kind of music changes including the 80's tecnomania, and they succeeded becoming the best band of all time. Led Zep wasn't even around for 10 years, they never had Queen's experience and always played the same old rock n roll. Big Deal!

sorry but this looks like a 10 year old had a go with a computer.."Bohemian Rhapsody" was only freddie singing..he sang every part alone and did the backing himself..and no they didnt all have great voices, john couldnt sing at all almost. brian had a very thin voice and Roger could not work as the main singer..ever..but i do agree Queen is surely the most versatile and impressive rock band ever..

Brian May is pioneer in many tehcinchs, he is the real inventor of the tape techinc " It´s Late" ( NOTW). Brian May has a disctinctive and unique sound and a home mad unique guitar ( Red Special). Queen are known for being one of ( if not the best) the best live bands. Queen is a pioneer in many genres, incl Metal (SHA),hip hop (AOBT). All of Queen wrote at least 1# hit... the list goes on

@TheJumpyPopcorn First of all he could only sing 3.5 he could never get the fourth one fully, and the reasons are the best in my opinion is because they created the first metal song (helter skelter) the vocal range of paul is much more then of freddie's, George introduced the world to the east indian style of music, John Lennon is one of the greatest men ever, and Ringo's style of drumming is in perfect beat and works great with the rest because he wouldnt play heavy if they were singing.

I just wanted to say that I agree with everything you said about Queen! They are the best! I recently re-discovered them ( a few months ago) when I saw a cover band for them. And have been listening to them ever since. Did you get to see them when they went on tour with Queen +Paul Rodgers? Or maybe earlier when Freddie was with them? I'd love to hear all . I just saw the Live Aid performance where Freddie completely steals the show. Incredible!!

Today it takes artists 4 years before they release something new. Not a year went by in the 60's when The Beatles did not have an album out. Every fucking year they had one or albums out! Help with great songs like Yesterday on and then Rubber Soul (an album that inspired Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds) were released in 1965 - in one year!!!!!!! That is just incredible, and after that in less than a year Revolver!!!

You can count Queens well known best songs on less than 10 fingers! Whereas with The Beatles you would need a few more fingers to count their great songs. That's a fact - they just flow out Let It Be, Yesterday, Hey Jude, Something, Here Comes The Sun, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, Strawberry fields, A Day In Life, Sgt Pepper or earlier songs like All My Loving, Can't Buy Me Love, Help - it just goes on and on and on!

Anyway maybe I will leave this topic as it's for Queen! But still would love to hear about your life in the the 1960's and all the bands you saw - even if you think they were crap!!!! I have no problem with you saying that because in the 1960's touring had a long way to go! You could not hear the music because of the screaming, tiny amps, tiny stage and I imagine the Beatles would have been rushed on to the stage to just a few songs - Maybe 8 songs and then they would have been rushed off again!

Because I read one of the things that impressed Lennon when they first met in 1958 is that he knew all the chords and could tune a guitar! Also after 50 years do you really think McCartney would not have learnt the other chords by now ????? Of course! McCartney is a VERY respected bass player in rock history!

@FREDDIEMANIAC Funny I was reading yesterday that one of the first things that impressed Lennon on his first meeting with McCartney in 1958 was that he knew all the chords on guitar and was able to tune one with ease! I doubt you know it but McCartney is a very highly rated bass player in rock! So much so that people like Ian Brown of The Stone Roses and Ozzy Osbourne have asked him counless times to play on their records!

Why is everybody here bashing the Beatles? I LOVE Queen, but I can still say that the Beatles produced more musical art than anyone else. @FREDDIEMANIAC Ozzy Osbourne had hated school (I couldnt hold a ruler) but I loved music, The Beatles in particular. Paul McCartney remains his musical hero to this day. The Beatles were everything, the reason I started singing. I like the Stones to a point but The Beatles blew my brains out.

All the beatles wrote more than 1 song each that went to number 1, they are better singers as a group, sold more albums, were so popular that it was impossible to play live as the crowd was so loud! You don't see many tv programmes dedicated to queen do you? Whereas they did for the beatles. Infact you will be hit with beatlenania come 2010! Queen hasn't got anything as good as the beatles, even the clothes are bad!

Come on, Beatles have sold more than 1 billion records worldwide. 170 mio. albums alone in the US - more than 50 mio. ahead of no. 2. + 20 number one singles and 19 no. 1 albums in the US. Queen did some very good stuff but as recording artists, Beatles top them.

@FreddieGodofRock Hey when I was in art college I bought Queens Greatest hits and had the song Bohemian Rhapsody on repeat for hours while I painted - it was great...... That's a great song and I liked a lot of Queen because dare I say it - a few songs are beatlesque sounding. Lets not start comparing Abba with The Beatles or Queen both bands are better by a mile!

@FreddieGodofRock A lot of Queen songs are Anthems I think! Cult songs! But some do make me think of foot ball thugs singing Queen Anthems and that puts me off some of the songs for me! Some songs have that 'feel' to them and that spoils it for me! Rant over - tell me about your life and all the bands you have seen

@abylovely lying to yourself isn't always the best thing to do. Queen though great are not even close to the greatness of the Beatles, the Beatles have no "hot space" in their catalog almost every album they made is #1 Queen cannot say that. I love Queen and Freddie but John, Paul, George and Ringo are the best there is was and ever will be and that is 100% fact.

Actually Queen is the only group whose members all had #1 hits, as well as the only group inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
As for the B's having the "best singers"! You better get your hearing checked!!!

@FREDDIEMANIAC Elton John was interviewed on a CBS morning show in 1991 and he was asked who he musically admired. He said you can talk about your Rogers and Hammerstein, but for the quantity of quality songs Lennon and McCartney did in such a short period of time, they were the two greatest song writers of the 20th century. Classical composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein said this about them also.
