Great series of reviews, but the sound is often hard to hear. I do struggle to hear what your saying sometimes. even without the occasional sound effect.
SADLY IT WASNT JUST THE NEO CONS WHO WERE AGAINEST THESE FILMS, IT WAS THE LIBERAL LEFT, THE FILM STUDIOS CONCERNED WITH REVENUE RETENTION AN DOF COURSE THOSE FROM THE CENTRE RIGHT WHO WERE LOOKING AT THE UNSTABLE SOCEITY AND THE CORRUPTABLE YOUTH.... GOOD DOC...POINTS HAVE BEEN WELL DEFINED BUT TO BE FAIR THE OVER OBSESSION WITH BIAS HAS PLURRED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT....
Excellent and intelligent documentary, many thanks. I was 14 at the peak of the video nasties hysteria but managed to see most on the list before they were swiftly removed from the shelves, none did me any harm. Indeed like yourself I was more upset by Alien and Jaws (although I was only 7 when I went to see Jaws). Again, excellent documentary, congratulations!
Got cut off. Maybe Frozen Scream got on the DPP list because they thought that the enormously inept exercise in filmmaking was offensive itself, not content?
Based on this series alone, you, sir, could be the British Joe Bob Briggs. I highly doubt any mainstream critic would look at these movies with as analytical an eye as you did (with the obvious exception of Last House). If I ever meet you, I owe you a beer.
Two last points: Raimi and co. tried to get Within the Woods included on the Book of the Dead disc, but since they used music from other movies, the licensing costs would be enormous.

This first version of The Evil Dead is forgotten in a lot of discussions about The Evil Trilogy or any of the main principals/director/producer....The Lampyman's light illuminates all.
