gav240z so true, we used to hate rotary cars because they had the worst fuel economy and blown seals later did I find out they were obviously built by teens throwing t88's on stock 13b's, I have a 1972 mazda 1200 my plan is for a NA 20b on ITB's
How does the E85 run with a rotary? I always wondered since the notorious problem with rotors is carbon buil-up, plugged injections, etc.. The 85 must be liquid heaven for that engine?
would you mine telling us the total over all price of the project, this is my plan for my rx7, right now its a rolling chasis pretty much, and want to do this setup with the 20b and need to know what i'm going to be spending, thank you
hey cartman how much u think a rx-7 will be next year and a half cuz imma be looking for one and need a few pointers on what to m ake sure it has and all get back to me please
dude you do know that the 20b only came out in 1 car it didnt come stock in a rx7 eyther they came in cozmos. they aint your average rota. learn your cars more man there aint shit all of them.
nah i doubt it. if thats the case your trying to say that there is 20,000 people that would be able to run a 9 second pass in there street leagal rx7 verry unlikly
at the DMV. You need to stand in the blue line for 25 minutes, go to the 3rd station at the counter, ask to go to the bathroom, they'll give you the bathroom key, but on the same key ring there are 2 more keys. Discard the one with the shield on it. Walk into the bathroom, push the toilet over the vent in the floor (to block the poisonous gas) and hit the button under the light swith on the wall. One of the walls will slide up, revealing a hall way.
Walk down this hallway and unlock the door at the end. Push the piano off to the side, revealing a ladder that leads to an underground passage. Follow this until you come across a bookshelf. Inspect the books until you find the wolf crest, and take it. Take the door on the left of the bookcase (in some DMVs it's the right, the other one is always a broom closet though, so take the other one if this is the case).
You will now enter a room full of crates. Push them until you can get to the door on the other side and use the V-jolt to kill the carnivorous plant. In the spot where the plant was, there will be the MO disk. Take this with you. Push the bookshelf out of the way to reveal another hidden hallway. Here you will find one of the missing STARS members. He begins reading facts abotu E85 fueled 20B FDs until a shadowy character shoots him. Inspect his body and pick up the key in his pocket.
On the final stretch of this hallway, there will be a door. nlock it with the key you just got. Inside this room there is a projector and a computer. Insert the MO disk into the computer and then you will see the graph on the wall.
Don't sit down to look at it yet though. A giant tarantula will enter the room thorugh an air vent. It can be killed easily, but then a bunch of smaller spiders will come out of it (oddly, the DMV in Pomona didn't have this). You can either run around the room to smash them with your feet, but if you just walk out of the room and come back in, they disappear. Now you can see the graph. And don't forget to give them the bathroom key when you get back, they get mad if you don't.
I'm looking into buying an RX7 with a 20B conversion. I've read a lot about RX7s and they are not known for their reliability. Is the 20B more reliable than the stock engine, and how much HP do you get out of the 20B?
HP for HP the 20B would be more reliable. I hillclimed a 290 RWHP NA 20B for 6 years with no problems. The stock 13B makes around 110 RWHP per rotor (220 total) while this engine is making 190+ RWHP per rotor (573 total) so I would not expect this engine to be as reliable as a stock 13B. FWIW I owned 4 3rd gen RX-7s, hillclimed, draged, auto-xed, street raced them and never had a problem.
lol..its not a reliable motor..or atleast the rotary motor isn't as reliable as a piston motor. I would still get one over a piston motor though. They sound better ^^, are smaller and lighter in weight, and just awesome! haha..good luck..hopefully I can get an FD3S some day as well
i heard its more like 30k cuz since they didnt come stock in manual trans u have to do so much to them and u need a standalone engine management system... YIKES lol
@Nihil2005 any rotary is actually reliable it just matters how well u look after it or if u get a got built rotor if u just have a stock rx7 and few bolts on thinkin u a weapo u thrah it ur just bashing it :)
@Nihil2005 RX-7's get a bad rap for reliability. Honestly the rotary engine is reliable. Just maintain it properly. Too many kids buy these cars and overboost them without properly tuning them and they go boom.
If you buy a nice stock example with service history it will be fine. By the way I'd buy a 13B RX-7 and convert it yourself. 20B would be nuts and 13B turbo stock is very fast! - I know I just bought 1 and it scares the crap out of me on the little roads we have in Ireland.
@gav240z Exactly, I daily drove my old FD and beat on it daily 6yrs+. That car was a tank. Still ran good, trapping 109 and it had 196000 miles on it when I sold it. I miss that car.
with an intake, downpipe and exhaust it ran 8.2s in the 1/8th all day on street tires.
The front of the engine was placed in the stock location inorder to not conflict with the stearing rack. Because the 20B is 7 inches longer than a 13B, everything behind the engine is 7 inches back. There is a custom shifter to restore the shifter to it's stock location.
@Cartman2120 hey mate!! any specs on the internals!!!??? standard s6 box?? is that a gt42r turbo as the tittle states sounds amazing!!! sounds way cooler than my plain bearing 42!!!!
MORE MORE MORE!! Nice As man! whats the 0-60 time, do u think it would be possible to get a 3 rotor with mvs or something [ the device that shuts down the 3rd rotor for fuel economy] :D
