I watched the movie today, it basically retells the whole story, but in a different way. The ending was by far the greaest I have ever seen, it brought tears of joy to me seeing Ushio again.

To me, the music isn't too sad by itself (yes, it is kinda sad), but the scene I associate with it makes it 1000x sadder. Especially the part where Ushio said, "Daddy, I love you."

I think Key did an amazing job with the music and when each song plays in the anime. I didn't see that in a lot of the anime I watched. I also have to say that ep.21 of AfterStory is the saddest in Clannad. The one time this song played with that scene, I truly felt sad.

Why is it that everyone cries so much over Clannad (and then comments about it on every video)? It has sad moments, sure, but it's far from the most tragic or depressing series out there. It's almost like "CLANNAD MADE ME CRY TT_TT" has become a meme or something.

@Chinaboy112 I'm not saying that Clannad isn't tragic or depressing. It certainly is, and I also definitely liked it. It's just, the fan reaction to those scenes is so much more extreme than I would expect.

Also, a couple series that I would consider more depressing: "Bokurano" and "Now and Then, Here and There". The latter, in particular, is probably the most disturbing work of fiction I've seen; it's an excellent series, but unrelentingly horrific in its portrayal of war.

@VetaeirYeln I actually had more tears of joy than I did of sorrow when watching CLANNAD. SPOILERALERT From when Fuko joined her sister at the wedding to my favorite part of Tomoya reminiscing as he tells Ushio about her mother.

I do not consider CLANNAD tragic or depressing. I consider it emotional.

For all the right reasons.

CLANNAD represented exactly what the name implies: Family.

It taught me life lessons that I hope will never die.

It's about children who are kidnapped and forced to fight as soldiers for a brutal, insane warlord on a dying desert planet. The directory apparently based the story on reports of the genocide in Rwanda.

I went on Youtube today and found this song. 3 hours and 3 episodes of Clannad later, I can safely say I am probably addicted to this show.

I do have some questions though, if anyone can answer them...

What is "Afterstory?" and how is it different from the original Clannad, which I am currently watching? Which is better? Is their a series I should watch first?

As I said before, I just finished episode 3. Will everything make more sense as the show goes on?
