@NukeAttackWarnings Well then maybe that should have made them realise that it was simply too dangerous to carry out the test....switching off the safety valves was a disaster waiting to happen. How stupid were they? And look at the catastrophe they caused.
I saw on a report within 27 seconds of the explosion here in the US we didn't know what it was,but we knew it wasn't a weapon release ( either intentional or accidental ).
Communist countries were never big on admitting government failures to not only their citizens, but the world as well. Sort of like why North Korea insists they have a satellite in orbit right now......

Why did they shut off the safety valves at reactor 4? Seems odd.

@bacabu30 beacuse, if the energy kept falling, the safety valves would open and the test would be aborted
