The National Trust has listed the Fitzroy Gardens on its Register.
It noted the "high level of heritage significance associated with its development through the resumption of private housing to create an inner-city haven, its modernist design by Ilmar Berzins (1921-1993) the first landscape architect employed by a local council in Australia, wide use by the local community and visitors... The design by Berzins was extremely rare and important."
Great video, gets straight to the point..LEAVE THE BEAUTIFUL FITZROY GARDENS ALONE!!!..a green oasis in the heart of the Cross where people can sit comfortably and with privacy amongst the lush shade of the huge historic trees adjacent to the famous El Alamein Fountain..a unique venue for the great weekly markets..why "fix" something that ain't broke??**!!!
