Whenever I have a craving for apple pie, but don't care for the crust (or too lazy), I do this! I fry them up with some brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It's so delicious, and very fast too. Keeping the skin on is a good idea, would probably be more nutritious anyways. Plus I don't like peeling anything (again, too lazy ;) ). Thanks for your recipe and all your hard work in making these videos :)
Thank you Betty for this wonderful recipe, this would also make a great dessert as it is our a dollop of vanilla ice cream or cool whip yum yum a great dish for this winter again thank you. Carter is so adorable a young chef in the making, I am sure if he hangs out with you he will be a great chef someday.
Those look delicious - I love fried apples and being from upstate New York, I always buy them at Cracker Barrel!! Never really knew what was in them, so this fall, when apples are really abundant , I will try this. Thanks for another recipe Betty!
Wow! I was just about to search all over youtube for a great apple recipe like this…I didn't have to search at all, here it was in my "subs" list today!
Looks great! I need a sweet side for this weekend!
Hello, in your video you say "1/2 stick of butter or 1/4 cup" but in your written recipe it says only 2 tablespoons... which amount should I use? I will be making these today for sure!
@amenoacid09 Hi! Thanks for noticing the discrepancy in measurements. You can use anywhere from 2 tablespoons (1/8 cup) to 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of butter. I changed the written recipe to reflect this. If you are watching your fat intake, just use the 2 tablespoons; otherwise, 4 tablespoons of butter makes it taste a little richer. Thanks for your comment!
Hi Betty! Have been meaning on telling you for way over a year, that I have that exact wok style pan and have used it for everything..I can't even remember where I bought it. I always substitute lids to, if needed..lol! Have a great day, Sally:)
Brown sugar , cinnamon , nutmeg and a little lemon juice works much better . It caramelizes them beautifully and makes a nice thick syrup around them .
Would these be good with other types of apples as well? Like would they be good with just sweet apples or can you do it with a tardy apple as well? I have a great-aunt that LOVES apples but she's a diabetic and I think the sweet apples with the sugar may be a bit too much of her. Wait... Could you use Splenda as well? lol I know I'm asking a billion questions.
@yellowgroove thanks, that sounds wonderful, apples and brown sugar with cinnamon sounds great... getting hungry watching your vids, time to find something to eat now..
fantastic, I'm going to try this. when I was a young kid I had a Aunt who made this and I thought it was the best. Thanks for showing me how .

@Dark0Malkavian Yes, you can use other types of apples. Splenda would be fine for diabetics. Be sure to get a type of apple that is firm, not mealy.

@bettyskitchen Thank you! ^^ Would it be the same ratio or would I cut down on the Splenda?
Dark0Malkavian 1 year ago
@Dark0Malkavian
Hi DarkO! If you can get Bramley apples they work pretty well - especially with a good splash of lemon juice to taste.

@asbochamp Sorry for the late reply but thank you. Those apples worked perfectly (after I managed to ruin the first batch lol)
