(continuiing previous comment) Fascism in my country used that system. It built "Camice Nere" and "Arditi" squads weakening the ordinary army and using popular riots in the 20s as excuse Mussolini could use the iron fist on the italian society sure of the loyalty of his gunmens. Argentina is another example. At the end the Military complex has the monopoly of violence.

Having a military composed by people of all races, beliefs and political ideas is VERY important for guaranteeing freedom

Be very careful to counter normal guys rectruiting. This is a well known phenonomenon in other countries. If you succeed in countering normal guys going into the military, step by step the military is fully occupied by the only others going there. Typically criminals, ex criminals, right wing nuts, etc. This always happens before coups, because at that point you'll have a bewildering power disconnected by ordinary people and - using a pretext - the military heads can take over the country.

thanks for posting this - antiwar activists in reno, nv started YMAP, Youth Militarization Awareness Project and went into a few high schools in this high-numbered military families area. so many students are raised under the "given", that they enlist after high school, then think about college later. very hard to get past that indoctrination. even the illegality and immorality of the invasions of sovereign nations made no dent. YMAP's been on a low burn since '06. i'm sending this video to all.
