This rendition takes so much from Monk and adds a plethora of multi-layered components, that it creates an extremely rich and respectful homage, while simultaneously existing as a very poignant and personal statement.
Just stumbled onto Jason Moran, and now I need to learn more. Wow, what a talent. Downloading "Ten" now, and will get into that this as soon as possible.
Saw him this weekend at the ÜberJazz in Hamburg. Was a great live concert. He's a helluva pianist. His bass player is a genius, and his drummer is a monster. Thank you for the evening.
found the horns a bit distracting during this. My favourite trio alongside Jarrett's though. What a unique voice.

enlighting enchanting rendition of the master. The best Nellie i ever heard not by Monk himself. As if Moran speaks to Monk

Monk would be sooooooo proud to hear this rendition of his tune. Jason really does this Legend some justice. All of these artists are awesome.

Such a great rendition of this tune without being a total Monk copy. I love the groove that happens midsong.

Oh, this is remarkable. It's very interesting to hear Monk's music as it gets interpreted throughout the years.
