wish Ethiopia the best of futures... for all it's people! i am tired of being ethnicist ! i love all my Ethiopian brother and sisters! we are all related after all!
If Mozart and Bethhoven heard this music ,they would raise their hat and bow to Ashenafi. What a shame that this piece does not have international audience.
This is really quite beautiful piece of music and it is remakable that a composer of this high talent is not as celebrated as strongly as western composers.
Enchanting, timeless and deeply comforting music indeed!
Dear Sir, I enjoyed this piece immensely. I would encourage you to recapture some of the Ethiopian music, particularly those considered as "anthems" by many because they are timeless to your list of postings and compositions. This is true music designed to warm the heart and not just as merchandising. I thank you!
@yeabeshalij1 Dude, can you tell me where to go to type in Ge'ez like that??? Cause I looked all over the internet and i can't seem to find it. What's really surprising is that it's not even in google translator.
I've always thought this classical was one of beethoven's or the likes. and i've always loved it,..now when i found out that it was made by our own, my anger n frustration towards the so called "ethiopian arts & culture" ministry was one lousy cabinet.
this sympony is probably the top five. i even choose this over beetoven symphony 9. it has so much sole and so romantic and dramatic. what a work!! it remind me of my child hood. love it thank you!!!
Wow.. this sound is so familiar to me it is like I heard it all the time day and night in Ethiopia.. I can't believe i didn't know the musician's name until this video.. thank you.
Why do I want to cry when I here this music?I remember my late father General Zewdu Lulseged and the beautiful Ethiopia he died for. This is to all who lost their lives for the love and honor of their country.
One need to be really in touch with his inner soul to be able to compose such a masterpiece and this one is my all time favorite! Thank you very much for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
I was about 11/12years old when my dad went on a trip to Etheopia.
He came back with an EP with exactly this version of "The shepherd with the flute"
We listened to it over and over again, untill the EP was totaly worn out, and sounded much like this...
Since 5 years he sufferd from C.O.P.D...a horrible lung desease.
He was the sweetest, kind hearted man anyone could ever meet.
Yesterday he passed away...
I wish I had some kind of copy of this symphony in my posesion.
Rest in peace Dad!
