alright, for all you people with the whole physics thing... acceleration due to gravity is 9.8m/s^2, that means it gains 9.8m/s of velocity per second it falls. However, a piece of a paper will not fall as fast as a lead weight would due to air drag, everything does not fall at the same velocity, it just falls with the same acceleration. A piece of paper has more surface area and less weight so it reaches terminal velocity(it's max speed) before a lead weight.

@PhoenixWingsGuitar if u buy skate shoes like Vans it helps, i have nike's so it took longer to get used to, but just keep doing it, and try to hook your foot up and toward you when u do it. stall the sack on your foot for a split second and you're basically throwing it back into the air not necessarily kicking it up
