this is seriously cool! All those bands, crass, dirt, etc. are a major part of my consciousness these days! Thank you for these archives! Marty Montelongo
anarcho punk is awesome. there was an awesome Anarcho Punk band from Richmond,Va. All girl band named, Durga. They never recorded anything but they were the real deal. Richmond,Va is the best REAL punk scene on the east coast. We have US Hardcore Bands, UK 82 Bands, Crust Bands, D Beat bands you name it. We're the shit and still keeping punk alive. No Clicky Scene bullshit. WE ALL GET ALONG!
We've got a pretty great scene in St. Louis, it was pretty stagnant for a few years. But it's on the rise again. A former bandmate and I are trying to help all the new local punk bands get recordings via our DIY record studio/label so they can have a chance against all the shitty radio rock wannabes.
wow have you been paying attention to any current events? theres only a couple wars going on and the threat of nuclear holocaust exists more than ever... oppression is all around us. the poltics are still very "realistic". the reason u dont hear bands like this anymore is because punk has become commercialized as sold to the masses.
couldn`t disagree more,What bands like dirt, crass and many of the punk bands of this time were singing about is happening today, yeh times change, but the same old political bullshit and world affairs still exist
since when is casualties not commercial? they fucking get people to make their "punk" shit for them, SINCE WHEN DO THE PEOPLE THEY SEND THEIR MESSAGE TO EVER DO ANYTHING????? they just fuckk around destroying shit and getting drunk not going out and making a fucking difference
@trustPAIX i think you're assuming and generalizing a bit too much. it could just as easily be said that anyone that listens to this are squatter scumbags who just panhandle on the streets all day. it doesn't make sense. you shouldn't stereotype. and many of the crass bands were quite successful in the 80's, way, way more so than the casualties have been. and don't forget the casualties have been playing 20+ yrs now. that alone says a lot. can that be said about any of the crass bands???
to all the good folk in hamparkroad e15 garry love you dirt brings me back home love and peaces and peaches peter used to work with peter and freesno and sookie upton lane love u gaz
Wow!, i never got to see em play but this brings back the memories of seeing 'do not pay more than......' on the front cover of everything on the crass label!, dirts first ep was brilliant!, anyone got any more to put on here!
I saw dirt in 81/2 and along with a couple of friends formed a short lived band guitar drums vocs...we did I dirt song (Hiroshima)if my mem serves me correct and one original and then split up...the drummer had a nervous breakdown...the guitarist works in McDonalds and I went on to become everything I hated at the time ( an fairly affluent twat living on a private estate married to a professional with 1 kid and 2 dogs) I still hanker after the old punk days though!
I hate this love this and then hate it.
