The OJJ also significantly reduces table saw injuries and can retro-fit existing table saws, all anti-kick back safety devices are placed up-front of the blade on a stationary fence, will automatically adjust to differences in material height and width
The older table saw technology in use today can be made much safety to operate and compete with Sawstop ( to date Sawstop cannot retro-fit older table saws) with a retro-fit by macduff of the Original Jimmy Jig,
Can you cut (crosscut) thick wood using a table saw or do you have to use something else? (for a 2x4 or something) All examples seem to be thin boards less than 1 inch thick.
There is a special carbide blade made to cut steel. I have cut and dadoed 14 guage steel sheets 4 feet long on my tablesaw with this blade. We have also crosscut over 50,000 4" wide 14 guage steel sheets with our $ 150 sliding saw. Just do NOT try doing it using your fingers to hold the steel.
You're welcome. I'm not daring you, the YouTube community is issuing the dare. You make a statement like that, well you better be ready to back it up. If you don't produce the video, then many here will not put much faith in your future comments. Remember, you started all this, not me.
Are you aware of how dangerous a table saw is?? You need to remove the watch and the ring from your hand or the saw may do it for you... Very very dangerous. Other tips ok though.
Some good info on safety but it seems to be a vid more on safety than on the uses of the table saw. Would have liked to see more examples of the type of cuts it can do.

Yes, you can cross cut 2x material. Don't do it with the fence in place!

Can you cut out a circle with the tablesaw?
woodjoy 4 years ago
It is not a recommended use of the tool. There are other saws made for that job.

Now that's what I call a helpful comment. So tell us the reason that video isn't at your channel? We all want to see you do it.

Why didn't you just do this in the first place? Why did I have to pull it out of you? Be helpful here in the ecosystem.

whats the point of making a circle? unless you can cut a circle out of a piece of wood with the table saw it is not a big deal or even very useful

How do you cut an angled piece of wood on a table saw without the wood flying back at you?
CTI55 4 years ago
Use the kick-back guard over the blade.

it's a miter gauge. I guess u could call it a crosscut guide, but the proper name is a miter gauge. Looks like the guy knows what he's talking about

My dads got one just like this one. Your safety tips are good but you are wearing a watch and a ring, which need to be removed for safety also.
drail80s 4 years ago
Great advice.... The ring has a safety slit cut in it. You can't see that in the video. Thanks for your reminders!
