  • Funny, that sort of vehicle resurfaces as the X-37. If only it had been developed instead of the space shuttle's configuration....

  • Very nice. Some of the other posters have already discussed why the parachute failed to deploy properly. Excellent craftsmanship.

  • BTW beautiful rocket,..... and nice straight flight

  • @harmsworth1 Thanks!

  • looks like the ejection charge was restricted at the small opening which increased the velocity of the gases which in turn gave you that shotgun style ejection. I would try having the separation further aft.

  • What method of propulsion do you use?

  • Estes D12-3.

  • Recovery system-malfunction.

  • That'll teach me to put a $.99 parachute in a project that I spent 10 hours on, won't it?

  • Were you intending for that to glide back?

  • No, but if I ever fly it again I might try and modify it so that it does. It was just a quick build, and the glider portion has a rearward CG, so it basically just flutters back to earth.

I think if I moved the glider CG forward, and changed the tail surface so that it created a pitch-up moment, it would probably glide pretty nicely.

I haven't flown this model in about 4 years, it's been sitting on the shelf since then.

  • Parawad. Naturally. Gotta go to Top Flight, my man.

  • cool video to bad the chute didn't deploy.

  • so cool!
