I remember looking at episodes where they made the food two ways. Once the way you did it with the hoagie buns, and another time where it was similar to a hamburger. They taste good, so I guess which ever form tickles your fancy.
@SuperGargargar These are really good but I don't think it's what they meant on the Cosby show. I watched another clip where the parents bring Theo one at his college dorm. It seemed to be just a hamburger with a sliced grilled hotdog and bacon.
After further investigation I found that this wasn't what was meant by a bacon burger dog on the Cosby show. There is an episode where the mom and dad bring Theo one of these to his college dorm or something. It looks like it's just a hamburger topped with bacon and a hot dog. I like my version better.
@cedrickdbz One way to make it even more awesome is to cut a slit in the hotdog and slip some pepper jack cheese in it before wrapping for a Bacon Burger Cheese Dog.
That does look good.. minus all that ketchup!! i can easily substitue all that beef and pork for turkey..turkey bacon, ground turkey, and turkey dogs..lol..i'm gonna try this with the turkey!!
If you use 1% fat Hebrew National beef hotdogs, and a really lean, say 90-10, ground sirloin it wouldn't be to bad. You only use two strips of bacon and a lot of the fat is rendered out during grilling. They are very filling so you will only eat one. And remember, it's not something you would eat all the time.
you are right. it's very unhealthy. you can do so many ways of dressing a hot dog. my favorites are nathan's & boar's head . i put mustard, relish , onions in sauce, meaty chili, & saurkraut. ****p.s.this hot dog looks yummy. enjoy.
