  • Naph1st: technique on an ergo improves the efficiency in which your power is being applied you douche fag. im 17 weigh 70kgs and pull a 6:43, i definately dont just "muscle" my way through.... tit

  • You guys... The erg is made for fucking power to be pulled through its chain, not for technique. Most people are going to muscle through a 2k erg, despite that ergs dont float

  • US lightweight cuttoff is 155lbs for highschool

  • You can go faster. Look me up on google Xeno rowing coach. I won the Olympics in sculling. I can help with technique and training program.

  • guy at my school in year 9, pulled a 6:36 for a 2k

  • @monkeykenyon in grade 9? thats fucked....

  • Guy on right using waaay too much upper body

  • I meant to say guy in black in front finishes first,, as it should be as he has best form, looks stronger and smoother overall IMHO

  • I respectfully disagree rickypo1,,, if you watch closely, you"ll notice guy in black in front sits much taller and comes further forward at the catch than guy to his right, guy to his right isn't using legs to their greastest extent,, and to prove my point, guy on right finishes first :-). Guy on right lunging forward too much

  • When i was 17 i did 6:19. I had 83kg and 184cm. I think it is average in junior class.

  • in my rowing club theres a 17 y.o. guy (jan kruppa) who goes 1.38 on 2k...fucking sick....

    nice race man

  • @FunnyMinority

I know a guy that was 16 and did 6:14

  • If you watch closely the guy in black at front in video, his technique is much better than guy sitting next to him, and also you"ll notice his technique stays good all the way to finish, he doesn't fall apart, only the great ones do that!

  • @Airman749 if your talking about the guy right at the front of the vid then your wrong, his technique is pretty poor at the end due i should think to fatigue, the guy to his right as pretty good technique...

  • Oh and in regards to technique,, vie seen some really really fit strong athletes post some bad 2K times , and some modestly fit athletes post some really great 2K times, the difference was all mainly technique

  • All this trash talk about this or that time at this or that distance. Let's keep our perspective here! Any thing sub -7 in 2k repesents a fit athlete , have fun with it enjoy yourself and just keep improving,as lazaroEG said : it's an acculative sport.it feels good to have pushed yourself beyond what you thought you were capable of, also I would argue that technique might possibly be even more than 50% just my 2cents

  • *3. The work out it's not about meters, but about pace, control, strokes p/m and heart rate. Don't give a damn about the meters and don't get stressed about your daily results. Rowing it's an acumulative sport, and some rowers are at their best when they are 30. A tr. plan could be from 3 months to 1 year, and you evaluate the results after that period it's finished. While that, you try to eat balanced, don't overstress your body, and live, study, be with your girlfriend, do your stuff. Cheers

  • 2*. First you need to go to a rowing club and find someone that teach you how to row, in rowing the technique is 50%. Then, if you manage to row 1 year 5-6 times by week, aerobic, at 18-22 spm, with a constant pace, no stress, even able to talk while you row, just keeping cool and concentrating in your work, after this you will fly and I your time today will be a bad joke; and mentally you will be solid as a rock. You have all your future in your hands to progress and do whatever you want.

  • 1*. MJtheKandyman, with 14 years you can plan to go to the olympic games, and I'm not kidding. What you need it's a plan, to work in a great technique, and never over stress your body. The first that you need to do is to work in technique and aerobic for 1 year. Buy a cardio watch such a polar, and work between 18-20spm at your 75% of your maximum heart rate. You can find online how to calculate it. NEVER go up of it, you will learn a lot about your body, and your progress will be solid..

  • GO ROB, I PUT 1000 BUCKS ON YOU, YOU BETTER NOT FUCKING LOOSE BITCH HOLE

  • how old were you and how much did you weigh in this race? and what was ur avg. split?

  • I was just under the lightweight cutoff (165 lbs.) and I was 22...average split was 1:39.8

  • no offence but a kid on my crew team is 16 and can keep a 1:30 and he weighs about 170 + 5'7 tall

  • @robgouge how tall are you?????

  • i am 14 and i row for fitness to help in other sports. i do 20 mins and get around 4200m. is that good?

  • Comment removed

  • no!

  • @MJtheKandyman

No. In 20 minutes you should get around 6k.

  • No... That is not good.

  • MJtheKandyman - Sure that's fine. These guys are being hard on you for no reason. 4200m in 20 minutes won't win any competitions, but for general fitness, keep doing what you're doing. Besides, your times will improve. The "In 20 minutes you should get around 6k" is an exceptionally fast pace and is nowhere near where most rowers are. Keep rowing, and don't listen to unsupportive people.

  • Its okay since your only 14 but if your looking to get a better 6k.

Do your best 2k at one split ( don't go 1:45 then a 2:04, keep it at one split) Then at the end of it get your average split and add 1.5 seconds to your 2k split for every 1000 meters you are doing. If your 2k split was 1:52, and your doing a 4k, add( 1.5 x 4) 6 seconds to your 2k and keep a 1;58 for your 4k.

  • Also if your a person who gets tired when they look at how many meters you got left, put a piece of paper on the meters part and time will fly by fast. Also if you got a SPM above 30, your using too much energy on the slide and too less on the drive. I've seen people with 24 SPM beat someone exactly like them except they had a 34 SPM

  • Thanks for posting this- it helps me study technique!

  • Yes, for 20minutes - slowly!

  • It looks easy.

  • do you row?

  • which one is rob?

  • hahaha

  • Our V8 boat got 5.58 last year!

  • Rob,

Is there an official World record for the 500m sprint? I have been watching your very impressive performances and wondered if you explosive athletic ability was given the deserved kudos.

    Ultra

  • dont think anyone wants to know

  • What is the time you've made ?

  • in 2006 my time was 6:39.0

  • I do about 2200m in 10:00 minutes, is that good?

  • um honestly not really but i don't know a) your experience b) your age or c) your technique so i can't really tell

  • man shut up , you dont know what the fuck your talking about.

  • and you do?

  • hardinerx, he is right... Why did you post that if you didn't want people to comment? Your attempt to show off failed. Don't cry about it.

  • yo thanks for the support man

  • Yes he does...

If you were good, you would talk about 2000 meters, and your time would be like under 7 minutes...

  • nah thats shit

  • when i was 14 and a lightweight i did 2800 for 10min

  • lol, sorry no, well. . . i guess it depends how old u are

  • Comment removed
