Bunnies are such cute little pets, I hope to convince my family to save one! Even if it's hard work, I'm sure it's worth the effort, just to see this.
My bunny passed Poohbear. It's just amazing on how much time you put on these bunnies to do cool things to make you proud. thats what I missed the most things that my bunny did that made me so proud of him
@sylvienix it started by him always running up the steps and standing at the door. then when i put him in the flower bed to play, he'd go for the steps. i don't let them run on the lawn, they are in an x-pen, but i knew where he'd go if i let him jump off of my lounger so i filmed it. i'm training my youngest to go up the steps and i'll put her further and further from the steps training her to go straight to them.
@aftereight21 normally i would be scared to allow a bunny to run free outside, in fact, i would not let minnie down on the ground for anything. but...bailey has always run for the door. i'd put him on the steps, he'd go to the door. down on the sideway, he'd go back to the door. little by little we got further from the door and he still headed right for the door. even when we were in the backyard on the leash he ran me all the way around the house to you guessed it...the door!! :)
It's important to stop for the good smellies. Back in the day our rabbit would watch the back door when in the backyard to know when we were coming to bring her in and she would run away. lol
Wow, this is so impressive. You must have them really used to the outdoors. I didn't take my two hollands outside for a while, and when I did, they were pretty freaked out. :(
your Bailey bunny looks almost exactly like my gone bunny. her name was Pickles 1. :( i now have a different kind of baby bunny his name is Pickles 2. she died when she was about 8. i miss her soooo much. :(
@MrRaikira no. he has always had an inclination to go back inside. when i use to put him on a leash, no matter where i would put him down on the ground he always ran towards the front door. backyard...runs to front yard and to the door. neighbors yard...front door. anyway, he's predictable, would not consider this with the youngen's never know where they might want to run.
@animalluva227 bailey has always gone right for the front door when put on the lawn. i did not train him, he does it by instinct. i would NOT trust a bunny to do this ordinarily. but here he is, nearly 4 years and still running right to the front door. i first discovered this while he was on a leash. i would take him to the neighbors, put him down and he'd run from the back yard to the front door! :)
Hi, i just got my rabbit and he wont play and wont chew...he likes to run around and explore... but isnt it natural for them to chew? would you know what to do? i just got him from a rabbit rescue and a few days before that he got neutered. would he still be getting use to his surroundings?
@ElghansAnimals101 lots of new things to take in and explore, probably no time to waste sitting in one placing chewing on a toy. i would not be alarmed.
btw, my rabbits are definitely not big chewers. apart from the willow tunnel that they all love, i am fortunate that none are in to chewing...furniture, carpet, molding etc. as they have free run of most of the house during the day.
@mrurt Oh ok thx, i mean it is good the he's not chewing on things i dont want him to chew on. and also the people who resuced him got a him netered a day after he arvied at the resuce then about 2 days later we got him, so that might also be why he isnt chewing.
so cute! lol my bunny does the same thing! One time I left the door open and didnt realize he had already hopped in and was panicking trying to find him! lol He was under the kitchen table :)
please tell me how you get her not to run away i have a lop her name is bailey too and i loveeee herrrrr i wish she could play outsideee helpp meee! lol
@jordanlynn5678 bailey has always had a tendency to run to the front door, even when on a lease. after i brush him i allow him to hop down from the chair outside and he just goes for the front door. it's more instinctive than trained. but habits can be formed. at night i turn off the light in the living room and tell everybunny it's time to go to bed and down the hall they go to their room. very helpful haha
when we all go outside they are always in an x-pen, anything could frighten them
Holy cow those are laid back bunnies! The Drizz used to climb up on the kitchen table looking for treats, and I had to train myself to respond calmly and not raise my voice because if I came in saying "HEY YOU bunny! How come you're on the TABLE!" (or something like that, )he'd get all scared and scramble off the table. I was afraid he'd fall and break his leg. I bet your guys just say "Yeah, it's just mom, we're chillin' ". Tee hee!
Bailey certainly seems to be super special!! My guys have lots of fun running the Bunny 500 in their xpen outside, but I think they are too afraid of strange noises. I think they would run away through no fault of their own just from being scared if they were not in a pen. They have a carrier to hide in if they get scared. Bailey seems very brave, not afraid of the vaccum or anything,SO laid back WOW. Kisses to Bailey!!
i'm not sure why but all 3 are laid back. in fact i have proved the point by running into the room screaming and clapping....they don't even acknowledge me. we have all been on the porch while dad is mowing grass right in front of us, they don't care. we wondered if everybun was deaf. :) nose bonks to you all
i won't even pretend like i've taught bailey anything. lol the day i brought him home he was super special. as far as running inside...i brush him on the driveway in my lounger, he hops off and runs right for the door, on instinct. even when he's on a lease (which is hardly ever) he runs right for the door. it's rather predictable. however, when we go outside to stay, he's in an x-pen with the others, everyone is looked after and kept safe, they're too priceless.
i don't envy you right now. i am always heartbroken when i loose a bunny...i've had them for 20 years now. but i hope you will find another who will fill your days with love and fun
i looovee your rabbits!! (L) i've had one for three years and i am letting her rome around the main floor all bunny proof and she looves it and seems so relaxed like bailey, i still haven't trusted her enough to go outside without a leash but soon or later :)....also i'm alwaays on your website!! looking for tips and bailey is the cuutest eveer and when i get another bunny im getting a lop :) there the cuuteest ;)
so cute! I wish I could let my Rabbits run free, but they are too dangerous for they are so much Hawks and such with me. I watch all the time on your videos and I love them!
we have an x-pen that i set up underneath the maple tree and then cover the top with a very old quilt. i stay with them the entire time, i would not dare leave them unprotected. i cringe whenever i see hawks.
when my bunnies play outside they are kept in an x-pen and i am with them every second. but whenever i take bailey out for a brushing he helps himself inside when we're done. i knew exactly where he was headed. i could never just let them run free, too scary.
omg that's awesome. I am too afraid not to have my loppy baby in her pen, I'm afraid she'd run into the woods D: Or yeah there are cats all around here and I cannot have some cat lurking in the bush after my baby, so this is nice to see, Bailey with some wild freedom, he sure looks like he's on a mission!!
i completely understand. bailey is truly one of a kind. the heading for the door thing is a habit of his though, i knew exactly where he was headed, he does it every time (just finished brushing him) it is not nearly as spontaneous as it appears that's how i got it on taoe. when i take the buns outside they are always in the x-pen, too scary for me to put them on the lawn even with a small chance of another animal or a hawk or just something scinto the street.
yeah, it seems pretty instinctive to him. when we are outside for a long time i put them in the X-pen. but i open the pen, or it i was holding him and put him down...like a flash to the front door
i can trust him to go to the front door but when they go outside they all go in the x-pen.
we had a hawk problem when we had bird feeders so i removed them. don't want to see them around as I would be scooping everybunny up and going inside!
i cover the top of the x-pen with an old quilt just as a safeguard when we're outside and of course i'm always with them...too precious to chance anything just like you say.
I wish I could let my bunny go outside, but she would run away, no doubt. She can't even go in the hallway anymore because she ate the sheetrock on the wall. She hates leaving her cage.
A few days ago, i took my rabbit to the frontyard to play. I was sitting at the driveway while he was just playing around/ digging/snifing and such. Next thing i saw....he hopped half way on the road(right in the middle). I nearly had an heart attack, cos he nva did that b4. And as a reaction i yelled out his name, he turned and saw me and ran straight to me. Just a naughty rabbit. At that moment my adrenaline was pumping 1mil times in a second.
That is very cute bunny, my bunny died last year, so it's been over year and i'm still missing my bunny :( my bunny's leg snapped, because he's leg got stucked on his cage and my bunny tried to get he's leg away from the cage and then he's leg snapped, i still remember it sound :(
The thing about the leash, somethimes I don't put Ruby on a leash, which freaks out my grandma. "You're just gonna let 'em get away and he won't know what to do! He'll run away!" I don't believe that will happen. Last time he actually ran a little from me, he came right back. I don't think he would leave me, when I put him on the couch and walk away, he looks for me! Cute!
By the way, love the video! Can't wait to see more! =)
well i rarely use a leash because it just doesn't make sense when i have a safe environment for them and know their reactions.
funny thing though, 20+ years ago when we lived in the "country" & i got my very first rabbit i never thought...hey, that bunny might run away. i just took him outside when i gardened and let him dig in the dirt with me. never had a problem though i'm not recommending
Yeah I've never really had a problem with him. He just likes certain spots. I was outside with my family and I was riding my bike. He had his harness on, but not the collar. He just roamed a little, ate some grass, then lid down and dozed haha!
yeh my rabbit does that too. When i look down his right next to me. Yeh when i first got my rabbit i would put a leash on him when i take him to the park which he hates so much. He would try and bite it off, so now the leash have a bite mark on it. After awhile...i was confident that he will not run off..i stopped using the leash and it works out fine. But people do look at me weirdly when i take him to the park or in the front yard -___-
when we lived in the "country" 20+ years ago, i took my bunny out to the garden with me and he loved to dig, when tired he'd dig a little in the flower bed and then lay down. lots of places for him to run away, woods on 2 sides. i never thought of that, when he was done he'd go up on the porch and in the front door with me
Such a cute bunny, used to have one exactly like him as a kid but died :( Music certainly matches the film of a bunnys mission! Can you do more films of your rabbits pleeeassse!
thank you so much. i would like to make some more videos of bailey, goodness knows i have a ton of footage and pictures...kinda addicted to bunnies hehe
Oh my gosh are you serious? My rabbit has never been outside because I always thought he would get flees! Ohh I didn't mean because of other animals I thought about it just being on the grass and the insects hoping on my rabbits fur hehe. Wow if that's the case I'm going to let him run outside all the time! Have u ever tried a rabbit leash? Do you think it would be okay? Thankyou.
yes, we've done the leash thing. it's up to the bunnies own personality as to whether they will tolerate it. getting it on them is the toughest challenge. bailey doesn't mind being on a leash but he won't let me "lead" him, he does all the leading. :)
never had a bunny get flees in 20 years of having them. i set up X-pens for them to play in as a fear other animals but perhaps it's because we have no other animals and there are leash laws where we live which means other animals don't frequent our yard., don't really know
I just looove this vidéo! Well done XD
Bunnies are such cute little pets, I hope to convince my family to save one! Even if it's hard work, I'm sure it's worth the effort, just to see this.

yeh my rabbit does that too.

Soooo cute! Doesnt it get flees though from going outside????
bebepinkdoll 2 years ago
never had a bunny get flees in 20 years of having them. i set up X-pens for them to play in as a fear other animals but perhaps it's because we have no other animals and there are leash laws where we live which means other animals don't frequent our yard., don't really know
