  • Nice kit and set up.

  • Those packs wear like shit. It's near impossible to get them to sit right with that lame plastic "frame" inside, and the straps are attached too close together at the top (especially when wearing plates). The army needs to get a new one.

  • me i prefer my black people care package wich consists of:

    A watermelon

    10 packets of koolaid

    ghetto colt 45

    afro pick

you can never go wrong with these

  • I find that there is no one asnwer its what you are comfortable with.

  • No food? No wonder you guys are called survivalists. I guess I am just a backpacker because I bring my food. I like the idea of supplementing my food supply for an extended stay though. Love your videos as I have learned so much about the multiple uses of things. Keep doing what you're doing!

  • @nlightened2 Oh yeah they're serious! I went to the Advanced Scout class and I almost had to bail on the last day. It was tough. Eating tadpoles and frogs and squirrels isn't bad but when you have 10 items and you have to split food between a few guys it starts to suck. Great learning experience though

  • ithank you

  • "Critter Gitter" LOL...clever, I like that.

  • Critr does it so different than Dave. Always interesting.

  • nice.

  • It's a ok pack just a bit small

  • It is pronounced "Molly" just like the female name.

  • @Vyppaaa11 Its pronounced just the way he is saying it. Am I missing something here?

  • @TheSurvivalResource I'm sorry, I realized shortly after i posted that that when I thought you were mispronouncing MOLLE you were actaully saying "my old pack" I thought you said "mold pack". soryy.

  • Can anybody tell me what happened to the Versa-shelter videos?????

  • I have one of the later model of Assault packs. Mine has a zipper compartment on the back rather than a flap. The hydration bladder pocket isn't for a bladder. It has straps for parachute jumping. Those straps are then routed through the ports on top. But it does work great for a bladder. I have a 1.5L camelback bladder in mine. The PALS webbing on the straps is great to rout the hose through. The MOLLE assault packs are great. I highly recommend them. I got mine on ebay.

  • @purplemutantas Also to note. My pack has PALS webbing on the bottom and came with a buttpack with MOLLE straps that fits nicely on the bottom of the pack. I currently have that buttpack on the bottom of my large MOLLE pack.

  • hey critr, could you pm me and let me know how exactly you carry your frog gig in your pack without it stabbing you in the back? I have been keeping mine in an old wooden 3/16 metal cutting die box. It measures 2 5/8 X 5 1/2 X 1 1/4. It has worked for the most part but I the box's corners poke me while in my pack and it's uncomfortable when I carry it in my cargo pocket on my pants. Any help would be great. I was thinking about making a cardboard or leather sheath but figured I'd ask.

  • @Caveman0713 i wrap the ends in gorilla tape

  • @Cornholio1776 I chose to make a sheath from cardboard and duct tape. It has worked thus far but I appreciate the fact that you responded. I was looking forward to getting a response from Crit'r but ever since dave left WOA has all but quit responding to any comments. Thanks all the same though

  • Also what is the link to the place you got the pack. I looked on canteen shop and couldn't find them

  • What kind of Tarp do you cary in this kit.

  • I remember when 'wildernessoutfitters' used to post good videos...

    Come back Dave!!

  • wow i have that same pack

i got it for cheap but i didnt know if it was good or not

i use it sometimes for camping

  • nice, but im realy starting to miss dave...

  • Hey Critter do you answer any discussions or questions on these videos ?

  • Hey have any of you guys seen the old school waxed cotton rucksack ll bean is selling for like 100 bucks. looks like it weighs a bit but the classic design realey looks awsome. Ive got a few larger packs kelty redwing and an older external frame kelty pack and a medium alice pack, but anyone got any ideas on a smaller more classic looking pack, otherwise Ill probably spend the loot for the LL Bean pack.

  • Steve,

Check out Sportsmansguide They have a waistpack that attaches to this pack or can be used alone for a summit bag.

  • @KURGAN44

That waistpack is it the same one in canteen

  • @Rowjr560 Man, wished I would have seen that before. Would have liked to have bought that from Rob. Great set up though, really expands the load of the pack.

  • @KURGAN44 I recently bought the pack from canteen, but I was asking if that waist pack you mention is the same that rob carries, also I seen the comment asking if there was straps on the bottom to carry a tarp or etc. Either way I have another bag in my collection...

  • @KURGAN44 would you have the item number from Sportsman guide or is it the same one on Robs site ?

  • @Rowjr560 This is a copy of the info from Sportsmansguide.

WX2-147211 Used U.S. M.O.L.L.E. Waist Pack, Woodland Camo

  • @KURGAN44 Thanks it looks like they are back ordered, but Rob answer a email about the one he sells and it will fit on my new pack,,I'll probably go that way...Thanks for the info Rob

  • hey steve, is there molle or straps on the bottom of the sack for a sleeping bag or tent?

  • @Graybear5150 was there a response to this question ?

  • @Rowjr560 not that i can see! but i got a different pack that turned out to be great!

  • @Graybear5150 Yes there is molle straps on the bottom as well as the top, well the one Rob sent me anyways..I didnt notice either on the video in discussion....

  • @Rowjr560 thank you for the info!

  • Great review. Here in the UK we struggle to get US surplus - there's plenty of NATO to choose from though.

I'll have to check my local Army Surplus warehouse for a similar pack - It's been too long since my last visit!!!

  • good choice,I've carried the same pack for acouple years now.

  • Cool video Steve, love the stuff that you do.

  • I just watched a couple of your vids. Excellent job. I'm subscribing.

  • Great vid!! thanks

  • Steve - great video as always . . . thanks!

  • Nice pack critter!

  • great kit ya got there Critter. Thanks for posting the material. I'll look forward to more in the future.

    Patriot

  • Hey Steve. Great video, as always. That gadget pouch is awesome, its the same one I have on the thigh rig. I just ordered one the saber saw, how do you like it?

  • Brian, The SaberCut saw ROCKS!!! A little bit of sticker shock with the price, but worth it.

  • @wildmutt1978 wouldnt mind seeing that saber saw ?

  • My pack is just like that and I love that bad boy.

  • i gor 1 of those except mine is desert camo, great pack!

  • nice pack, wish i had one

  • can you guys do an instructional on how to properly and effectivly use an axe/ hatchet?

  • Go to Ray mears site.Theres a good vid on there

  • @herpingmad145 There's a great video on Nutnfancy's page that'll show you how NOT to use an axe.

  • get rid of condor horrible quality.

  • Nice Cord lock man.

  • Need me one.

  • Excellent video! Great pack.

    5 stars!

  • Great looking pack. Really well utilized too. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • What American accent is this???

  • @70Mack Southern or as some say red neck.

  • Sounds cool to me.

  • deep Southern drawl.

  • I noticed that you and Dave both carry the Guyot bottle. Is there a reason to carry that over the canteen cup?

P.S. I like Dave's video of baking trail muffins in the Guyot bottle with the the squishy bowl.

  • most of them carry a guyot bottle and a gi stainless cup or vargo titanium cup that fits around it. reason being you can boil water directly in the water bottle unlike the plastic ones, also with an additional cup you can use it to make tea, coffee, cocoa, soup, etc without using your main water carrier.

  • thanks for the vid man 5/5.

  • Great Vid Critr'

I have one of the 2-day assault packs and absolutly love it. I like the looks of that 3-day too. A good choice for CanteenShop.

Might want to check out the 2-day pack as well.

    Thanks Steve

  • j/w are the chem glow sticks in a outer case wouldn't want to break it and not know maybe use a cigar / blunt tube taped in place?

may i suggest led glow sticks can turn off and on so save battery's when not needed

  • Very nice ruksak... for me a just tad bit overshot with equipment. I like those side pockets... gota fing my self some.

  • Nice pack.

All the essentials can fit in it.

  • Almost time for my spring camping trip...I like to go before the bugs come out....Best time of the year !!!

  • dont remind us about the bugs. LOL

    damn skeeters.

  • That's one thing i love about working on the ocean...I miss most of skeeter season....If they fly 8 miles offshore to bite me they deserve a drink !!! Wanna good laugh check out my "MaineMan" song on my channel

  • Great vid Critter

  • you lucky man.

  • Thank you very much Steve!

  • I love my 3 day. I grabbed a nice one. Mine has a LOT of MOLLE/PALs webbing all over it. Good overview, man!

Quick question: Is that gadget pouch padded?

I ask because I am looking for a good padded pouch for my chem sticks and my palm devices. Thanks for posting this. Good vid! I pray GOD bless you and yours.

  • One thing i like about this assult pack is, if you need a little extra room you can add a molle butt-pack to the bottom, (also military surplus). With the butt-pack that 3 day pack turns into a long outing pack and can hold almost as much gear as a med alice pack.

  • the foam and plastic could be used as a sit mat to insulate your butt from the ground

  • Nice pack. Just got a 3 day tac pack for my bug out bag. Mil spec is freaking awesome.

  • Ill be looking for that pac on the canteen website. I need a new one.

  • iv got the same bag i think it look exscatly the same just on the tag its called a patrol pack instead of a assault pack and iv had it sence about july 2009 and i like it i got it to wear with my m58 set and fits nicely but now i usaly just take it by its self unless i want alot of gear

  • ive been waiting for my Alice to die, then ill upgrade to a molle, but ive been waiting a while now.

I highly recomend canteenshop. Customer service makes it number 1.

  • good video critter very informotive keep up the good work

  • cool pack

  • Cool pack.

  • nice vid
