Alan, Martin, and Dave made magic togeher for some reason. The just briught the best out of each of their individual roles. Alan knew how to channel and harness the direction of the songs. Of course, Alan is a genius, but so was Flood sitting there with him. However, despite Alan's musical abilty, his latest recoil albums fell off the mark. Just my opinion. I thought Dave's second album, Hourglass, caught something special. Anyone??

yes Alan was a genius but now it seems that he kinda lost his ability coz recoil albums, well, they are pretty much the same, yay Hourglass sounded like DM in some way but with Dave`s mark hehe the album truly rocked, I really don`t get all those people saying thing about AW the guy left DM almost 15 years ago!! swallow it!!

Martin wrote the songs, Alan composed the music, and Dave sang the songs. They were a very successful team/band. DM is still great, but they could've been a lot better if Alan was still a band member. Martin wanted Enjoy the Silence to be a ballad, Alan suggested speeding the song up, and we all know that song became of their greatest hits. Alan was a big part, and DM is not the same without him. If anyone is unnecessary, then I would vote for Fletch!

Okay, Alan Wilder for one is not the entire DM group like many people make him to be. Most of the stuff is all over them together. And if you think Alan is so great then listen to his solo project, Recoil because it sounds NOTHING like Depeche Mode. Alan was brought in to replace Vince. Not the band, but Alan was a great producer and keyboardist but he was NOT Depeche Mode. He was a piece of it.
