i just really kind of got into them recently. i like em. not shabby. my fav. song is "walkng in my shoes" i saw them for the first time in la and 2 weeks ago or so. awsome show. bad seats
I think it's about time we all admitted that Fletch was the force that has driven Depeche mode to their stardom and kept them together for all these years. He has provided the musical and spiritual guidance througout their career, forming the mood and the sound of Depeche Mode as we know it.
how can anyone doubt the greatness of this combo? it is like lightning never strikes twice in one place..DM defies that! they have grown up and continue to rule...Martin and Dave, ...powerful stuff..
Alan, Martin, and Dave made magic togeher for some reason. The just briught the best out of each of their individual roles. Alan knew how to channel and harness the direction of the songs. Of course, Alan is a genius, but so was Flood sitting there with him. However, despite Alan's musical abilty, his latest recoil albums fell off the mark. Just my opinion. I thought Dave's second album, Hourglass, caught something special. Anyone??
yes Alan was a genius but now it seems that he kinda lost his ability coz recoil albums, well, they are pretty much the same, yay Hourglass sounded like DM in some way but with Dave`s mark hehe the album truly rocked, I really don`t get all those people saying thing about AW the guy left DM almost 15 years ago!! swallow it!!
Martin wrote the songs, Alan composed the music, and Dave sang the songs. They were a very successful team/band. DM is still great, but they could've been a lot better if Alan was still a band member. Martin wanted Enjoy the Silence to be a ballad, Alan suggested speeding the song up, and we all know that song became of their greatest hits. Alan was a big part, and DM is not the same without him. If anyone is unnecessary, then I would vote for Fletch!
Okay, Alan Wilder for one is not the entire DM group like many people make him to be. Most of the stuff is all over them together. And if you think Alan is so great then listen to his solo project, Recoil because it sounds NOTHING like Depeche Mode. Alan was brought in to replace Vince. Not the band, but Alan was a great producer and keyboardist but he was NOT Depeche Mode. He was a piece of it.
Of course I don`t know how so much people think that DM died with alan`s departure, I think it was alan who died without DM, ALan in his solo is boring and without light, but with DM the team is great!, anyway he will never come back =)
@carlosarios don't go, wtf why are you going wasting your money on your intuition?!??! It's advisedly your NOT a true DM fan
...ever year there are new fans that want to hear, like this song, LIVE, old fans like me since 1989 too, And those too which have never seen them live...
they still pack stadiums every time they tour and here in america, without radio airplay bitch... so shut the fuck up idiot!

I am a great fan of DM since 1984. My favourite member is (was) Alan. He is a genius!!!
DM is still the one and only for me, though I miss Alan's sounding of the songs.
My dream is an album Greatest hits of DM 1995 - 2009 remixed by Alan Wilder.

because Depeche Mode is very lazy in their setlist; they play the same songs for every tour nowadays; pretty dispointed!!!!
Alan Wilder must return
