Um...not really. Though I'm not really up to date on any current rulings, last I checked you have to give your opponent the opportunity to "react" to basically anything you do. It'll say on the card. Some things you can only do in reaction to other things, some things are specifically once per turn...you'd be best off asking someone who plays currently about any specific card rulings.
Typically in a duel the loser is destroyed, though it really all boils down to the action that caused the duel in the first place. Read the card, sometimes it'll say the loser just bows. At least, that's how it was the last time I played, which was a while ago :)
@KuroibanErin thanks for the info! I've had a chance to play a few more times, and have dueled so it's good the guys at the store are patient with me. I'm doing Dragon enlightenment, which for a beginner is pretty tough! I also have a Crab deck I'm getting set up to go for a simpler military victory though.
Some editions ago, the loser was destroyed unless the card told you otherwise. That was changed in Samurai Edition (I think). Now, the loser only faces whatever fate is printed on the card that started the duel.
@KuroibanErin Thanks! Since a year ago, I got really into the game. Started with Dragon, and worked up a Dragon Enlightenment deck which works sometimes. Otherwise, for an easier game, I got for my Crab military deck. Lots of heavy hitters and using the stronghold that can straighten personalities. Awesome! Just ordered a new Crab starter from the Before the Dawn. Haven't kept up on the storyline, I guess Hida Kuon died, and Emperor edition is coming later this year.
I still think the original game was the best & the original artwork with the 5 inter-locking rings & the japanese 'look' to the cards was awesome. Why they went with the 'generic' border & 'look' I'll never understand. I know their explanations, but it doesn't change the fact that the cards went from looking amazing to looking generic, & I lost interest.
Thankfully, Celestial looks good. Still not as good as the original though
The Scorpion is the best clan. Dishonor/Military is the most fun deck to play. Ninja Chi-Kill is the second most fun deck. Have fun. Consider wearing mask during games.

I am curious about what you use as health, or I guess how damage is calculated, and how many cards are in each deck.

What are the Fate cards you are drawing used for? Can you just play those during your turn whenever you want?

Remember kids, never trust a woman in a mask, especially if the last name is Bayushi.

Nice cosplay, I tabletop with some friends, but I did make a kimono for an online friend to LARP in.

i have a newbie question... when you duel, and win, is your enemy just bowed or destroyed? What happens if both personalities tie? do they both die?
