  • every god damn metric video there's "omg omg this would be hungergamez lolol". I love the hunger games, but I don't see how ANY of their songs could fit into the hunger games. yes, that includes "Stadium love"...

  • @Candiigalz I feel this song would be more suited for Mockingjay or Catching Fire, rather then Hunger Games ....

  • here because of grey's anatomy :3

  • I saw this album on the wall yesterday

It had this sullen and sad girl on the cover

    Free will

  • I keep spinning circles

It's all about momentum, you know?

The Men's Project in Ontario had their funding cut this year. Maybe you know?

I wish this song, this stellar album could be revisited, presented for the genius that it is. There must be someone out there in that area who could set up some events to raise money for this crucially important institution which is currently under duress.

You don't have to be held down.

    I wish upon a star

    Rise up, all is well

    Ever grateful 4 the liftUP

  • Just hope they won't mess up The Hunger Games movie. Anyways, this song is awesome :D

  • Holy crap, this song is beautiful.

  • ..we're all blindfolded (class whichever way), but realizing the situation of others can expand perceptions..

..this is about humanity waking up & realizing there's more than what's at their front door..kinda like the Arab Spring..folks realizing they can find better & being compelled to action..while the well-off are realizing the same thing "i was a blindfold..got us a battle/leave it up to me"..

..change comes from the masses as much as the riches..it takes a conscience to realize it..

  • EMILY HAINES IS AWESOMMMMMMEEEEEE <3

  • The handmaids tale

  • Metric's a great band!

  • I thought this was about the book Blindness.. woopsies

  • This is the song I will always relate to more than anything.

  • This is one of my favorite songs on my ipod. :D

  • I believe this song is about Emily who has been living a privileged life, but she still isn't happy. Then she came to the realization that other people or the survivors are celebrating the fact they are still alive. Saying she never asked for her life but the world won't let her leave... she is tired of living and the survivors truly appreciate their lives. She would rather sacrifice her life for theirs. Really sad... yet beautiful.

  • @ItsKydawg uhh.. I kinda lean more to the theory about Justice. You can find it on songmeanings.

    It actually makes more sense.

  • @ItsKydawg i thinked i just cried and maby pooped a bit to but still cried

  • @ItsKydawg I don't think any of the songs on this album are about Emily. If I have this correct, then this album is actually based on fans' stories that were submitted to the band via their website. This album was a tribute to their fans; a way of idolizing the idolize-rs.

  • @ItsTheBuus you took the words right outta ny mouth :)

  • love that song

  • It's Pure Perfection~!

  • monica Rose^^

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • This song is reminds me of someone in a fight they know they can win but won't survive so, instead of looking at it with anger, their looking at their loved ones and the life they had with a bitter sweet nostalgia. Kind of sad but they know what their doing will save their loved ones and is the right thing to do... self sacrifice :)

  • @xhanrx93 i don't know abt the part abt the loved ones but agree on everything else. this song always touches me somewhere deep. hope mingled with despair, hopelessness, toil and strife. i always imagine people struggling through rain and mud whenever i listen to this song

  • amazing aria effect and emotinal potency make this one of my favorite songs ever. bravo you guys

  • /watch?v=NnzIrRykilA

    TOO AFRAID TO LOVE YOU

  • 8 people wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass. There's more to music than a staccato of drum beats, a hot mess of noise, and a plethora of why you're so hot or amazing, which makes us so blasé - I'm talking to you Pop and Rap Music. You've got to connect to the listeners in some degree, not make them feel like shit because they don't have money to burn or the perfect body to display.

  • I guess this song is about the book "Blindness" written by José Saramago. It describes almost exactly what is the book about.

  • @seamusfing i couldnt agree more!

  • I'm not a Metric-fan, not at all. But I think I'm totally in love with this song, I can't stop listening! The buildup is perfect, I never heard something like this before.

  • i heard this at grey's anatomy and everytime i hear it, it makes my eyes watery

    it's a sweet nostalgia :')

  • i love this song..............

  • This song really brings me back <3

  • i just found out that one of my best friends is gay. he literally JUST told me and i was listening to this song. it's funny because now it reminds me of him in a sense of "how could i not have known?"

  • i kept listening Metrics songs but it was really hard for me to get into it for some reason and it was weird because it seemed like my genre...anyway i see now that this is crazy good, i must have been insane.

  • my friend told me this belonged in the hunger games. and hell yea it does ♥

  • @Poltercat niiicee good point

  • Stadium Love works so much better, though.

  • I really really want them to use this for the Hunger Games movie. It fits it so much.

  • @pyrokittyb This song should be played as the tributes rise from their metal plates. at 2:08 they get released and the games begin. May the odds be ever in your favor.

  • Love this band.

  • if any of you have read the hunger games books this song really fits the story line

  • @SCIFILOVER123 YES. completely agree, really reminds me of the books!

  • Grey's Anatomy :)

  • This song is just... epic. ^_^

  • Loved this song for years now.Reading the comments makes me wish I'd played it on Spotify though, and given the band some advert cash.Think I will now, then listen to Errors track Rumour in Africa.Go Spotify it immediately if you can.

  • This song... is so haunting, but even more haunting for me right now. It feels like it was written about the recent earthquake in Christchurch, NZ.... Rest in peace to all those who have passed

  • I hate looking for fragmented lyrics for half an hour, but I love finally finding the song!

  • Credits to Sammi Doll and her Tumblr. I love this song <3

  • Scott Pilgrim got me into Metric....

  • the song for me start at 2:00

  • @Madlib604 ya that is the best part of the song but its much more epic if it builds up to it slowly

  • eeeewww?

  • I am so addicted to this song <3

  • iv loved metric since i was like 7 iv beed obsesed since

  • OMG SOME RANDOM DUDE IS GOING TO GET BLINDFOLDED, STUFFED THROUGH A TRAPPED DOOR IN A PLANE, WHILE IT'S RAINING, AND THERE WILL BE A BATTLE OVER WETHER THEY STAB YOU WITH A BLADE, AND THEN METRIC'S RANDOMLY GONNA SAVE YOU ,AND SAY"LEAVE IT UP TO ME!" THEN SINCE i'M WRITING THIS I'LL GO " damn capslock" sorry that was random....... I say/type the randomest of things.... but this isn't random: I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 7 people are blind...(:

  • wtf..why is justin beiber on the radio and not theses guys/gals?

  • @superman614mr I heard this song on the radio, lol. They got at least a little radio love... but they changed the DJs on my favorite station, and all those noisy fuckers play is current rap (or the trash that passes for it these days) and some rock. Now I need to find a new favorite alt rock station because the one I used to love has changed drastically... -_-

  • this is the song that make me like Metric. :)

  • does anyone else think that this fits Lost fairly well?

  • @vicky6793 haha cool connection

  • @vicky6793

    EWW

  • I like this band.... barely found out bout them

  • From 1:50 to end is my part i love

  • "Singing in the rain" great piece of imagery.

  • So happy !

  • i keep finding great songs by this band.

  • all there songs are so good

  • give me more

  • these guys are just the cat's meow!

  • this is amazing :)

  • great band and live just awesome

  • what are other good songs by this group?

  • @lauryngabrielle23 I don't know too many songs by them yet, but at the moment I suggest these:

    "Gold Guns Girls"

    "Help I'm Alive"

    "Eclipse (All Yours)"

These are the only ones I've heard by them so far.

  • @lauryngabrielle23

    black sheep

    combat baby

    too little too late

    gimme sympathy

    torture me

  • @lauryngabrielle23

    sick muse

    gimme sympathy

  • WOW,, i love METRIC.....

  • This song gave me chills, especially at the beginning! I love how it changes, like pyrokittyb said. It's my new favorite Metric song now.

  • @Jayshammy92 WUUUUUT! "Gold Guns Girls"!

  • Metric is great!! :D

  • This song grew on me so much, at first I didn't really notice it but now it's one of my favourites by them.

The buildup is so beautiful. It starts off feeling kind of sad and hopeless and then it becomes the most positive, uplifting thing at the end.

Love this song, I could listen to it forever.

  • @pyrokittyb I know what you mean! Those chord progressions resolve so classically and effortlessly :)

  • @pyrokittyb Same. I've found that with their songs. There's a handful that really grab you and make you listen to the whole album. Then, there's a handful of songs like Blindness that, on the 4th listen, suddenly make sense and are much better than the "hits".

  • @pyrokittyb do it! :D

  • @pyrokittyb

I always saw the ending as a cry for death. but I agree.. can't stop listening :D

  • @Iconoclaust. I agree. When I first heard the song that's the way I saw it too. I don't think this song is 'uplifting' in the traditional sense. It's a cry for death, for release from the responsibility of life. If you believe there is a next life that can be seen as uplifting in a spiritual sense. But it's not a song with a positive outlook on human life.

  • I heard this in urban outfitters!! Yay for sending yourself a text of the lyrics so you can look it up on google later!

  • @snowfairy385 I heard it at Charlotte Russe lmao.

  • @snowfairy385 soundhound lol

  • uhhhg i luvs this!

  • liking your videos btw so i thought i would send you a quick messege, dont let anyone put you down :) watch and comment on mine if you like

  • Love this song!

  • one of my favourites .... ♥

  • I was a blindfold -----> I was the one who pulled the wool over everyone's eyes, was trained to decieve them, I lied to keep the peace. Then everyone found out, but maybe they didn't. I'll do my best anyway. I regret things but at the same time I don't. I love and hate life, I feel sick of doing this sometimes, but its my purpose (My take, anyway..)

  • It's definitely "I was a blind fool".

  • @pinkpanda21 booklet says blindfold. a mistake?

  • A saw them in concert a couple years ago. It was the best

first concert I ever went to. I don't really know what I would do

    If I never heard Metric's music. They're amazing 8)

  • I absolutely love Metric, Emily Haines has an amazing voice. I was completely mesmerized when I went to their concert last October.

  • Reminds me of a sad movie.

  • @OMG1wtf me too:/

  • I love the buildup after the verses in this song. I've listened to this song like 123 times.

  • I would like this song never finish ....

  • I thought it was "I was a blindfold"?

  • chills up my arms at 2:13 beautiful!

  • "I was a Blind Fool"

  • @LeahObrien72

    Blindfold.

  • @OMG1wtf

maybe. But it doesn't make sense that way. Makes sense to say "I was a blind fool. never complained." And the second time she sings that line, it sounds very much like "blind fool" <3

  • @LeahObrien72

Could go either way I guess.

  • i LOVE this band . they are amazing and i mean it .. so much feeling .. thyre so deep

  • metric is the cat's ass

  • FIIIRRREE

  • This is the best metric song in my opinion. It's unfortunate that this isn't one of their singles. When I tell my friends this is my favorite Metric song, they usually just blow me off and talk about the current hit on the radio. Feels bad, man.

  • Oh, It's 'Got us a Battle..' not 'Bottle' guess that makes more sense. But thought of it in the way of 'message in a Bottle' sort of thing.

  • I listened to this because it was on Stephenie Meyer's playlist! sounds great!

  • i just found out about metric and <3 them

  • One of my favourite songs.

  • Love this song!!!!!

  • Metric is filling a void I've had for good bands lately... Love their keyboards/drums/Emily!

  • @edyken77 metric is a former shell of themselfs... it's sad when you compare their own albums.

  • @shaynescope I haven't heard their older album yet, am I supposed to not like them as much because they've 'changed'? So many people say that about their favorite bands, that they've changed. But if a band doesn't change or refine their sound or push the limits of their creativity, they become stale and irrelevant.

  • @edyken77 they just sound like every other band now, i loved them for being unique.. too much radio time makes bands sterile.. its really a shame i honestly love them as a band.. but the guitars are different.. it just sounds off if you'v been a fan for a while, that's all. no hate just kinda sad.

  • @shaynescope agreed theyve gone downhill. because they used to be so fucking amazing, it was hard for them to live up to their own name. but also, music styles change and mature... metric is certainly not trying to be the mainstream sound. i felt that way when i first heard Help, I'm Alive... but come on. its Emily. the last thing she wants to be is everyone else... she wanted to sample a new sound i presume. long live all metric! edyken77 should check out ALLmetric/emily haines

  • This song should so be on the Lost finale. Would fit the show perfectly.

  • @supernaut6011 FUCKING! hilarious!

  • this song reminds me of lost.

  • @weekendwewereinlove I hate you

  • @Mduddle .....?

  • i love how the drums kick in at 2:00

  • Metric is so awesome!

  • I love metric. I'm pretty sure I total 100 times for watching this clip over and over again.

  • how awesome is this band? listen to their old stuff like 'raw sugar' and their new stuff. so frickin incredible!!!

  • Fuck yes, this songs so awesome!

  • Metric is the fucking shit!

  • good song! Awesome plot.

  • Their live performance turned me off of them for about 4 years..but this new album is looking like it has potential.

  • this song is beautiful, I think the reason that metric are more or less underground is because some of their stuff is quite political and the government don't want people to being thinking the shit they are saying :)

  • Yeah, That's why I had to go all teh way to the best buy for get the CD...

  • i dunno about that, but there seems to be a recent tren with really great canadian bands not making it big in the ad world or in general media coverage ... maybe it's the canadian record labels fault for not pulling the weight or maybe its the american market not wanting to push great bands from just over the border ...

  • @jimmyaka or maybe its just not what pop listeners want. there loss.

  • @truestars100 the government cant force a band underground and if they were being censored none of these videos would be posted on the internet

  • metric is incredible live,,and on cd. I remember when i first went to seen them..I was like 16 and i only knew a few songs..it was an awesome concert..

one of my fave songs on this album

  • Amazing song. I love it.

  • Makes me feel like, I fell powerful, to take down anyone

    But I cant

  • i saw them in concert in toronto. They were phoenomenal!! This is my fav metric song, it's really sad, but the sad songs are always the best, arent they? ^^

  • like, all the med and forensic shows have such epic music!! i love it :D

  • I love 'em.

  • i saw them live and i cant even explain how amazing they are :)

  • Metric = best. band. ever.

  • Hate the show with a passion but Grey's Anatomy has surpassed CSI as the show with the best music.

  • LOVEEEE this song :D
