Why say "passed away" when "dead" is the truth? "Dead" sounds real, whereas "passed away" makes them sound like a fart on the wind. Maybe it's just me, but the word dead doesn't sound that bad when it's what somebody is. I've had to cope with the death of quite a few people, and at this point I just like to cut the bullshit about it. Dead is dead. Being PC on that point is kind of pointless to me when it's the PC people that I want to punch in the face the most because of false sentiment.

Actually, when coping with the death of a loved one, and it's you who is suffering the loss, its usually other people who are tip-toeing around trying to find the right words, and "passed away" is better than no words at all, or the rather ignorant "it's time to move on because they've gone to a better place." But as for the death of Patrick Swayze; I hated seeing how he was suffering with his disease, but he lived well.
