Correct me if I am wrong but I understand that interviews which are 'planned in advance' are common in the United States (or if not exactly planned in advance then such that the interviewees are informed of the questions beforehand). In the UK this is almost never the case, certainly in regard to interviews with politicians. If it were discovered that the interviewee had knowledge of the questions beforehand then I imagine there would be a bit of an uproar - one which I myself would join in.

I think you will find this is to do with budget constraints. The bendy buses will have been introduced at great expense and not that long ago so I very much doubt London transport could afford to replace them all with Routemasters so soon after their purchase.

Boris is keeping to his promise but this is the real world, with real considerations that have to be met.
