While a bit absurd, I would have still supported the approach this commercial took to getting its message across, if it were indeed about the ominous threat of polar bear extinction. But it's not. Airline workers should counter this assault on their industry with a commercial of their own. They could have a bunch of cute and cuddly pilots and flight attendants, in full uniform, being ripped apart by hungry polar bears. Then they could package the whole message as some sort of accusation against people who DON'T fly the friendly skies. They could provide stats on broken marriages, alcoholism, suicides etc. among their ranks and book a lot of guilt trips for those who reject air travel.
I find this hilarious instead of shocking. The whole thing is too cartoonisly absurd. If you want people to support your cause you'd do well not to use lies and shock tactics.
Global warming is real, and the amount of CO2 being put into the air is increasing, mainly because of humans.
At the same time, climate change is slow as fuck, and if scientists don't figure out ways to make human beings live past 200, we won't see many effects of it in our life time.
