Well i do alot of goliath grouper fishing at the jenson beach causeway..i use jack carvile,ladyfish,and stingray..i keep on losing most of them why? i use a shimano reel and 65 ibs power pro doubled and 400 ibs leader line with a 8/0 circle..what do u think im doing wrong? maybe change to a j hook? please respond....Chad ..thankyou

Chad you need a lot heavier main line and much more drag. You have to keep them out of the structure and unless you have the drag and line strength it is very tough.

This is just a shot in the dark but now that its summer a big old grouper would be under any bridge as long as its in saltwater. I don't think any fish wants to be fried by the sun so their either way down in the ocean or under some place shady where it's cool.

Ive noticed you guys catching Jacks to use as bait for the goliaths, my dad and I make an annual trip from toronto to Tampa to fish for jacks, snook, redfish etc.

but you always seem to do alot better than us, can u recommend anything for lures or bait to catch Jack Kravalls??
