Type 1000 does not use the 5v power form the pc for anything other than communications if that.

Type 2000/3000/slim/GO and above i've no clue i don't have them.

@RivalSilver1 you probably have a standard USB cable. What you want to do is go to the store and get an A to Mini B USB Cable. One side will be the size that fits into your computer, and the other will be smaller and should fit your PSP

@jaxterex as i sed above the psp comes in many many many diffrint packs from the unit itself to the unit and a ton of stuff to go with it and everything inbetween.

so i cant tell you what came with your psp.

years ago when i bought this psp it was in a gigapack that came with all sorts of things including a few games.. all in one box. i'm sure theres entry level versions to and packs with a few things in it and packs with more than what i got with mine.

honistly thats the only surefire way to get good video out of the psp the usb hack is gittery and lagy

@xCobraJ Sounds like your eather conecting through a hub or havent updated your XP in a while. the psp regesters as a mass storige device similer to a USB drive are card reader that error can come up in a few situations

1.Install your motherboards actuial chipset drivers.

2.update windows xp to the latest service pack.

3.Bypas the USB hub and conect direckly to the computer.

in some cases you may have to try a difrent usb port like the ones direckly on the back on the pc as some cases use a usb hub in the front that may be intefering with product ID preventing windows from determining witch driver to use.

@xCobraJ so irreverent. This is an error message, can be easily fixed (even tho you made this one up). And generally, when the USB port can't connect, it means either the USB plug is broken or your drivers are messed up.
