No pictures allowed at all? Sure? I visited a number of Japanese museums that did not allow photo-flash lights (is that the word?), but taking pictures (and videos for that matter) without additional lighting was okay.
I went to Shimane only once many years ago. My dad lives in Kofu, Yamanashi. I can bike to Yamanashi Museum of Art. It' free for people over 65, regardless of residency. it's good to be old sometimes.
