@stevenhida it's wicked rare to see an open ice hip check just because it's easy for the other player to get out of the way. on the side of the ice you can use the boards to pin the other player. ballard also plays left d, so it makes sense that most of his hip checks happen along the boards on that side of the ice.
Ballard is my favorite player because of those hip checks. Go Coyotes! Now we only need consistent scoring and we'd actually be a threat more than every 1 in 4 games
