  • Very Very Good. Yes There is a clip where Sammy Turns into Lenny for a brief second showing how its a figment of his imagination. Yes there is also a Tattoo on Lenny's Chest saying I Did It, which he has removed. Im glad im not the only one who knew that, or that there are a few others who do too. This is by Far my most favourite Film of all time. I can see how youve tried to mimic the characteristic style in which the film was edited. However, this film must be enjoyed in it entirety, not 6mins.

  • Well done. Just watched it again after many years. Again, well done, but you almost told the whole story. Leaving out the part where Teddy tells him what they did is a spoiler. No matter that the audience won't know it in your trailer, if they remember that piece, they'll carry it through Teddy's appearances throughout the film.

    Good work otherwise.

  • is teddy the main killer

  • @ballinea no lenny killed his own wife accidentally w the insulin

  • @ballinea no, teddy used lenny in more ways than one because of his short term memory loss... Teddy knew about his short term memory loss and knew he couldn't help it so he tried to use it if I remember right

  • It was a great job!! and I have this condition - 1-2 days not 2 min. I'm writing a screenplay about My Days in the Navy and my days in - not so pleasant hospitals..Yes - the aforementioned statement I believe to be true,,

  • OK i got everything about this movie BUT ONE PART WHO THE IS DODD?? why did nataline want him to kill him?

  • @benberk123 SPOILER!!!!

dodd threatend natalie because of jimmy grants's money. he was natalies partner and was killed by leonard, who thought jimmy was John.G (murderer of his wife). so leonard took his suit, car and money. dodd wants the money from natalie and she tricks lenny into getting rid of him. :)

    hope it helps.

  • bollywood copied this movie. checkout GHAJINI

  • actually its the other way around isnt it?

  • are u sayin that memento copied the bollywood version?

  • Very good. Howver pon some scenes it was hard for me to concentrate because of all the noises. But overall very good.

  • Nice job, a very hard movie to use for this project, what grade did you get?

  • The point at the end is that Leonard manipulates himself, taking advantage of his memory loss to make himself believe things. That's why he writes don't believe his lies on Teddy's picture, to make Teddy his new John G. he even says it to himself. He does the same thing when he writes remember sammy jenkis.

  • I felt he did this to Teddy to end the cycle he was in where Teddy manipulated him. So, he would no longer need to believe anything false. thus only making himself believe one last thing.

  • I feel the same way

  • hey smoke a joint and watch this movie its awsome!

  • thats rubbish he isnt sammy jenkins the film doesnt say say that. its to show the manipulation of leonard by teddy in how hes putting stuff into his head for his own gain.

  • after sammy's wife dies and sammy is sitting in the hospital he turns into lenny for a split second. pay attention closely.

  • "HumpDeBump" as in the Red Hot Chili Peppers song?

  • you mean my name yes it is

  • Awesome. I'm a huge Chili Peppers and John Frusciante fan.

  • awesom song mang

  • @humpdebumpdude - Sammy was real, Leonard confused his life with Sammy's. Sammy didn't have a wife, all the stuff with Sammy and his wife is really Leonard and his wife. So that part in the hospital yeah, that's Leonard after he accidently killed his wife. Though, in his mind he's conditioned himself to believe it was Sammy, that's why the flash of Leonard in Sammy's place in that split second.

  • it might take an eternity until it gets re-issued to a john g, but until then, another wild goose chase...by the way, love the edit. one of the best movies ever. Remember Sammy Jankis!!

  • kida2357 has it right. lenny is sammy. teddy tells the truth at the end. but lenny knows he will forget, so he sets himself up to kill him, because he needs a purpose. the real question is: how many times has he done this. look closer at his tattoos, they explain a lot. how many john g's has he killed? what will he do after the movie ends? probably search for another john g until the state re-issues the plate number "SG13 71U" again. It's tattoed as a FACT so he wont let it go!

  • doublethink.

  • Comment removed

  • Teddy isn't lying. in a flashback scene with Sammy. Sammy's sitting in a hospital, and his head flashes into lenny's really quickly. This means that what happened to Sammy is indeed, as teddy said, in actuality what happened to Lenny. Lenny needs a purpose for his life, and that has always been hunting down his wife's killer. So he lies to himself and says it was Teddy. He sets up a puzzle for himslef ending with him killing teddy even though he knows he's innocent. to give his life a purpose

  • @KidA2357 But why doesn't Leonard remember that his wife had diabetes? He claims he can remember everything before the incident. And at the end you see Leonard lying in bed with his wife with all of the tattoos covering his body, as though his wife was never dead in the first place. Is that just Leonard fantasizing? Perhaps. I believe what you said is the correct version of events, but stuff still doesn't seem to add up.

  • @SteveGunn2 Because he conditioned himself to forget that part. At the end when you see leonard lying w his wife you can assume this is after the first time he REALLY killed john g w teddy's help. also notice the tattoo on his heart during that part says "IVE DONE IT" (when hes lying w his wife)

  • @MrHoppybunny what happened with the "I've done it" tattoo? :-/ we're let supposing that he removed it?

  • @Sorarry ya unfortunately they just leave it to you 2 figure that out if you see the tattoo. no actual explanation other than what info teddy gives.

  • @MrHoppybunny u see that scene can give a lot of interpretations to the real story of Lenny, cuz if he remenber him and his wife in the bed together after the accident does that mean he can get new memory??if it does , it means that he dont really got that condition and that change the whole interpretation of the end, he could be the killer of his wife and just wanna forget about what he did so bad that he built this whole story and condition stuff around him

  • @SteveGunn2 Suspension of disbelief. We know now what is going on. He knows now that he can pick pieces of what he wants to remember before the "incident". He sees nothing wrong with picking her out of the past and putting her into his present. He found that he could to that - as long as he can remember to put into his present, and keep it there with his notes and clues. His future will be a learned mix of past and present like a patchwork quilt. His future will be an astounding sequel.

  • @KidA2357 Lenny also has a tattoo on his chest in a scene with his wife saying "I did it."

  • In the movie itself, when Lenny kills Jimmy. As he is dragging the body down to the basement, he hears someone say "Sammy" Someone explain this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • That's Jimmy saying it. And I think he was saying it to prove that he isn't who Leonard thinks he is. If Jimmy was the John G then he probably wouldn't know about Sammy and just saying the name "Sammy" was probably just an easy way to prove that.

  • Isnt it weird how christopher nolan always has adying woman in his movies...

    memento; lenny's wife

    prestige; the great dantons wife

Batman/dark knight; Bale's girlfriend gets killed...

I almost wonder if maybe when his mom died, (or some female presence died), it really shook him up and he makes movies as a form of therapy...

Does anyone else see the trend???

  • illness is like the mob in this movie with all the kills it has

  • i can't believe i get it. at least i think i do. the last scence of the movie gave it away. he told himself to look for john G. who was teddy. teddy wasn't even the killer but he made his own self believe that he was the killer. so therefore sammy jenkis was not real, he just made himself believe that he was real. he was really sammy jenkis. he made himself go on a wild goose chase to make himself find the killer of his wife. he didn't want to remember the truth. he was the one who killed her.

  • no, he already killed the killer of his wife.. teddy said it in the end (or beginning) but he didn't want to live without a sense of purpose or drive.. that's why he lied to himself

  • lenoard killed his own wife, they both survived the attack the killed the guy that attacked them but he lied to himself to believe that the criminals did it.

  • i think in the end of the movie where you see the picture teddy took of lenny after he "did it", there's some definite proof you can believe that lenny accomplished something, probably getting revenge (since there aren't many other goals on his mind). He was even pointing to the area on his chest where in his flashbacks he tattooed "i did it" - I think this refers to solving the crime rather than being the criminal (i don't think he'd kill his wife) remember- for sammy his wife committed suicide

  • But its also confusing to tell whether teddy is telling the truth or lying in the end. BUT I've noticed that there is this stretch of dialogue where it seems that Teddy just lets go of his manipulation schemes and tells him the truth (including the picture part). So I think Teddy is right...Lenny did get revenge, but he wouldn't believe it after the fact (Teddy was sure it would stick). Then teddy went wrong by controlling him, and received justice for all the people he got lenny to kill.

  • But now I'm having trouble summing up the whole "moral" of the story with the ending line..we all need mirrors to remind ourselves of who we are. What was the point of the movie? Maybe to show how people don't realize what they've become until its too late (jail?) . I'm not sure..but I'll definately wonder about that & watch memento again, one of the best movies ever made! GO christopher nolan!!!

  • wait a minute! It could be: while Lenny has lost his memory of physical events, he has a constant awareness of what he is doing and the kind of person he wants to be. For other people, it may be the reverse - they forget who they are for power (control of lenny?) which is much worse than anterior grade memory loss, because they can become evil in their lust for control/money (teddy?). So really Lenny has the advantage of knowing himself

  • i did it means he killed his wife!!! the only i agree with saintMOVIES.

  • I did it means he killed John G. Teddy has been using him to kill other people.

  • I think u might be on to something but he still has his long term memory intact so sammy jenkins could not have been made up.

  • The only thing i didn't understand about the movie is how come he knows his has this memory disorder cause clearly he was diagnosed after he got it, and then shouldn't he forget he has it or i guess he just logically creates the idea each time that he has it.

  • Conditioning.........

  • Another was when he was talking about Sammy Jenkis in a different scene not in here. A doctor walks by and there is a flash of Lenny sitting in the chair rather than Sammy Jenkis. And another one is when you think he's pinching his wife there is a scene where you see a flash of him with an insulin needle in his hand. He injected her rather than pinched her. So it's all a matter of figuring out that he does this to make him happy. He is the one who killed his wife.

  • but wait.. if lenny remembers everything up until the incident, and his wife survived, he would have remembered that she didnt have diabetes...

  • see thats the thing though he doesn't remember everything. he's mixed stories from his insurance cases with his own personal life. he doesn't know whats real or fake.

  • oh, well that makes sense xDDDD thanks haha

  • yeah theres so much to this story that watching it once doesn't do it justice. you should watch it a few times and put the puzzle together yourself.

  • oh i know, it was like the third time watching it for me. that was the only thing that kept me from getting the actual story. whether his wife had diabetes or not. but yeah the first time was just confusing as hell lol

  • yeah i watched it a few times as well to make sure i had it right.

  • @Trehhbor He does remember. Just that he doesnt want to remember the overdose part.

  • Lenny is the person who killed his wife. He made up Sammy Jenkis in order to convince himself he wasn't the real killer. She was a diabetic and he was the one who injected her with insulin so much that she died. There are many clips of subliminal messaging. Some of them include how Lenny wrote down "SG13 71U" instead of "SG13 7IU" in order confuse himself to make him happy.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • This is brilliant. You edited this very well and this is a great film to work on to make this short

  • i think you can never really know if he got the right guy, nothing is really clear in the movie since teddy lies to him all the time, even he lies to himself, so how can we know whats really the truth(from stuff that happen before he kills jimmy) even he memories from before the incident are distordedhe remembers one thing but then tells him something else and he get glimpses of something different... that's wwhy is so great, so ask those questions yourself and arrive at your own conclusion...

  • he already got the right guy. You have to analyze it into its key details and symbolism. Teddy only lied to lenny when didnt look him in the eye. His wife survived and lenny had made new memories. He mixed them with the Sammy Jankins case. Sammy never had a wife,it was all lenny and his wife. he co-existed his life with his and created the case for his own hapiness. Ex. the hapiness of when he killed the rapists #2, in the photo.

  • i see what your saying and that what i would go if i had to... but you can't really know for sure cause we did not see that in the movie... we only saw flashbacks of lenny and confessions of teddy. it seems like teddy is telling the true after lenny kills jimmy but how can that be trusted...

  • thats the point, the purpose of the movie was for the audiance to feel confused (to be like leonard) and Betrayed (due to our trust in Leonard found to be fake. He being a ice cold killer for his own enjoyment.)

  • If you dig this movie, it is definitely worth it to buy the limited edition. There is an "easter egg" where you can watch it chronologically. I just watched it. (It doesn't let you rewind however, and it is hard to find the easter egg (google it)) Anyway, post a reply to this comment: Was Teddy the "John G." he's been looking for all this time? Is his wife still alive? I also missed it, but he has a tattoo that says, "SHE IS GONE..." But I couldn't see what else that specific tattoo says.

  • no teddy is a john g but not the rapist. teddy was assigned to the police case. everything that teddy explains at the end it true. Only when he looks him in the eye tho.... thats why in the scene before this one the last. sammy is sitting in a psyche ward and when someone walks past it changes to lenny sitting in the chair.

  • baqck to lenny, he killed the rapist. thats why he points to his chest in the photo where he is covered in blood smiling. when he has all his tattoos look closely it says "I've done it."

  • What a great movie!

  • Forgive my ignorance, here.

I saw this years ago and loved it an saw it again and again.

It almost doesn't matter, but DID Lenny kill his wife?

Did he get the right guy?

    Sorry if I missd it.

  • he did, and he got the right guy, you need to see it again

  • this is one of the best movies i ever saw only fight club can compete with this one

  • @bigczz true

  • Another funny part to me was when he was in the parking lot being chased by dodd and he was like where am i well im chasing this guy opps i guess he's chasing me. lol

  • as much as i enjoyed the plot of the movie, i found a flaw: with his condition, how does he remember that he's the one tattooing the notes to himself? how does he know that john g. killed his wife? who told him? the person on the phone? why should he believe that person?

  • he wrote himself notes about tatooing himself.

the fact that johny G killed his wife was tatooed on his body. he knows that from the police papers he have. and the person on the phone was teddy.

  • A serious masterpiece. No matter how well The Dark Knight does, this will be Nolan's signature film

  • the only funny part in the movie::

    "take off your pants.."..

    "why??"..

"because i dont want to get blood on them.."..

  • i don't know about that! i loved it when he busted down the wrong door at the motel

  • Yeah and lines like: "Now... where was I" kinda funny

  • and also when he thought: "what am i doing here? (then he saw someone running), oh, i guess im chasing this guy (then the guy start shooting tword him) or he is chasing me".

  • just read on WIKI that brad pitt was gonna play Lenny.. if he played Lenny this movie would have sucked balls.. pitt has the emotional range of fly.. anyone see legends of the fall when his brother dies and he cries.. so laughable his acting.. guy pearce or pierce i forget but guy is such an incredible actor.. i think if anyone else had played this role the movie wouldnt have been as mind blowing as it is.. the idea of art is lost in hollywood.. memento is the definition of art..

  • just downloaded this and watching it right now.. i forgot how incredible it is.. actually its my fave movie so i do remember.. but what i forgot was the background soundtrack that plays throughout a lot of the film.. you know that moody background string music.. man this movie is straight perfection.. unbelievable.. i used to do a lot of drugs and it blew my mind high.. still incredible sober.. but id love to get high and watch this again.. drugs will destroy your life kids.. believe me..

  • What didnt you like about it?

  • Yes, I believe it was the cop.

  • I HAVE A QUESTION THO' WHO WAS LENNIE TALKING TO ON THE PHONE ALL THE TIME??? THe COp???

  • my favorite movie of all time.. hands down my favorite..

John G.. must find John G.. gangsta ass gangsta..

  • Haven't seen the movie ..but man he is so hot

  • then you must watch it.. you must must must must watch this.. im not sure if you will appreciate it but if you like to read faulkner.. you will love this..

  • it must be hard living your life by notes .you mix your grocery list with your laundry list and end up eating your underwear.number 1 movie of all.

  • thats pretty good 4 6 minutes

  • Well, I thought Sammy was lenni's imagination and it was really him.

  • i dont know if anyone noticed in the film, but there is a part where sammy is sat in the hospital and a nurse walks past and then for a split second sammy turns into lenny. i spotted it and then i figured it all out.

  • Everyone noticed that.

  • how could he jsut write fact:2 at the end, not knowing how many subsequent facts their were.

  • intersting movie ....i like how they made it =]

  • yeah me too!! just watched it my second time last night. :)

  • yupp i wached it a couple of times 2 cuz its such a great movie =]

  • yeah it really rocks.

  • yupp when did u start waching this movie?

  • uhmm... i saw it the first time maybe 2 yrs ago, and i saw it again last night. :) i finally understood the story, but there are some things that you just can't ever know for sure. :)

  • like what maybe i will know lolz

  • well, for example, is sammy a real person, or did lenny kill his wife like that and doesn't realize that he is actually the sammy? you get it? :D

  • yupp sammy is a fake person ...and yeah he killed his wife

  • Sammy wasn't fake at all. His condition was, but he was very much real.

  • no samy is fake ...look so sammy is realy lenni everything that sammyy did is realy in lennies body .

  • i said that wrong lenni made up this sammy kid beacuse he knows that he had killed his wife by givving her lots of those shots...so to make his life satisfing he made up sammy

  • No, you're wrong. Sammy was real. This is confirmed at the end of the movie where Teddy mentions how Sammy was a client, but was faking his condition. Lenny proved that. However, the imagined part is where Sammy's wife dies by attempting to test him. That's where Sammy is fictionalised because it was actually between Lenny and his wife.

Regardless, Sammy was a real individual in Lenny's life.

  • oh yeah your right its cuz it was a while that i wached the movie so i forgot ... my bad and your 100% right =]

  • I saw an unique image during a Sammy flashback, when you can saw Leonard in a hospital chair.

This image confirm that Sammy is at least half-fake... Leonard is certainly confused..

  • Well, that's one theory. But how do we actually know that Teddy is telling the truth? He can be lying..

  • @Mysterious0Bob well that is true if you belive what Teddy said, the speech that Teddy gave at the end fit perfectly the story of Lenny but he could be lying and tell that to Lenny just to continue and justify his exploitation of Lenny, cuz i think Teddy is the guy that Lenny talk to on the phone (black and white scenes) if that is true, Teddy could know many things about Lenny and just create a story for Lenny to continue his exploitation (im french by the way so dont hate)

  • @rabino999 Nope, no point in that since Lenny can't remember. Teddy was telling the truth.

  • do u have an aim ?

  • what do you mean?

  • i was saying that sammy is a fake person and yess he killed his wife with thouse shots

  • yes but "do you have an aim?" what did that mean? :)

  • oh lol aim means were people istant message each other

  • One interpretation of this film is that Pearce is a sort of serial killer who keeps lying to himself but has killed a number of people - the drug dealer, the cop, others.

  • I think Teddy is telling the truth about everything, but because Lenny didn't want to believe that he put his wife in a coma and then she died so he left himself the wrong information on purpose.

  • i think like that too!

  • I think Teddy was actually telling the truth about tracking down the real killer and Lenny having to recollection...the movie is fucked i hate not knowing. But i do love this film

  • so was teddy john g? did he actually have anything to do with killing lennys wife? or had lenny already found john g and just didnt remember and just killed teddy cause he thought he was john g?

  • the thing is that you're not supposed to know, the story is told, like you're Lenny, you relly do not know the anwser.

  • According to some Lenny and Sammy were the same person. So Lenny killed his wife by giving her the diabetic shots over and over again, and Lenny (Sammy) was in the mental hospital. And Lenny escaped from the mental hospital.

  • Dang it man, you ruined it for me. I've never seen it. Oh well.

  • Well...he did have the word Spoiler in the title, so it's you're fault.

    -Jason Anderson

  • Yeah, now he does

  • lol when ur done seeing the movie the first time u still want to see it again so dont hate him for saying something about the movie :P

  • you sir have done excelent work. it was like watching the movie again. and like oooo0oooo0oooo said this would be the hardest movie to chop up and put back together. great work.

  • Great encapsulation of a great movie.

  • Impressive work man.

Interesting that you have totaly removed any beside-threads of this story (like a Natalie for example) and focused just on the "John G.'s chasing" case which is most important.

Greate movie. My personal no.1 along with "12 monkeys".

  • You should write spoilers either first thing on the description or on the title or something considering you gave away the ending.

But you did give a good job ending, props yo. :P

  • North by Northwest is better

  • no way.

  • nuh uh cowboy.

  • ..l..

  • the montage on the Remember Sammy Jankis sequence was really cool... i just made an editing exercise on this movie putting the sequences in the order they "should" be... Doing this you realize how amazing this script was written and -of course- how the movie has this greatness that hasn't been done in decades. Christopher Nolan rules !

  • I think I'd like to see the result of your editing excercise. Let me know if you plan to post it.

  • um, it's kind of useless to post the whole movie in 10-minute-youtube-pieces, you know,... but i was reading on some comments on this particular video that an special edition DVD has the option of playing the movie "straight forward"... that made like 2 days of my life thrown to the garbage, right ? haha... anyways i think i learned a thing or two by it

  • You took the hardest movie to edit of them all, lol :D.

  • leonard shelby is continuously working on his case, trying to find his wife's killer. more and more tattoos, more clues, and more problems at every step. but all of it is still futile. if anyone was ever stuck on something, it's gotta be lenny.

  • (Stands up clapping, Loudly)..

  • well done. (probably not the easiest movie to cut down, heheh)

  • mate in English,,and this is my fav film of all time ....love the editing..by the way..

  • first of all, you made me love this movie even more! i wish i could have a copy of this edit you created, soo well done. but i think you should have titled this marking it as a spoiler too, otherwise you would ruin the whole experience for someone who hasnt watched the movie yet.

  • love it absolutly love it

did u know that thats Trinity and Cypher XD

Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano meet again

  • This is my one of the most favourite movie, excellent job! :)

  • you could NOT have picked a more difficult movie to edit down to six minutes, but good job

  • test this you fucking quack!

  • did you get counted off for being 29 seconds over? jk, good job. great movie.

  • well done i love this movie i havnt seen it in forever

  • My favourite scene was when he was talking on the phone for ages then he took off the plaster on his arm and saw the tattoo 'NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE'

    that was chilling

  • x2.

  • If you haven't seen the original -don't watch this! The original is wonderful, enthralling and involving. Don't shortcut your experience.

  • great job~

  • great trialer but if someone hasn't seen this before it sort of kinda ruins the ending.

  • It's not meant to be a trailer. It is the whole film in 6 minutes as told to you in he description.

  • Hey I just want to give you some constructive criticism. Before 4:30 the editing is a bit rough, it kinda jumps too quickly scene to scene, but after 4:30 it gets a lot better, it's a lot smoother.

  • This is EXCELLENT editing. I mean excellent.

  • This is also one of my favorite movies.

    Excellent editing.

  • One of the best movies ever!

  • Don't believe Sammy... he is you, John.

  • Good editing here! I really enjoyed this... :)

  • this is the best movie except the matrix obviosuly

  • Hum... no not obviously, THe Matrix aint so good.

  • yeah it is lol, best movie other than Titanic and Disturbia

  • Funny thing. You just named my two least favorite movies in the world. Oh well, everyone has different opinions.

  • umm are u piss taking the Matrix ?????

    i get VERY ANGRY XD

  • thats great editing.

it sums up the movie perfectly

    good job

  • that ending is so powerful. one of the truly surprising endings without seeming gimmicky, to me. also not a shoot em up crazy conclusion

  • Guy is lurve X_X
