I agree...you do have to work (just a bit) to like this movie but as for Zack Snyder's directing not sucking you in I have to disagree. I was hooked after the first 10 minutes.

No doubt, this is one of the most debated films out there and I am definitely NOT on your side, Schmoes. Don't get me wrong, I loved this review, it was funny but I disagree to the max. This is one of my favorite superhero films. I loved everything about it. Can't really explain in detail with this comment but, yeah the style and visuals of course are great but I liked the characters, the development, the undertones, the narrations, the violence. It's a 5 star film to me!

It was great looking and has fantastic source material but it kind of lacks depth. Rorschach and the comedian were amazing, dr manhatten was pretty good, malin akerman and matthew goode were painfully bad.

Also the change in the ending barely made any sense and kind of ruined it

what sucked about watchmen was that i was fully aware of the fact that my ass hurt and i was tired and i had to work the next morning and i may or may not be sitting on seamen and that my girlfriend was sitting right there when owlman and that fat bitch were fucking. i should have been sucked into another world, but this movie didn't take me anywhere. watchmen was a shitty movie. but it looked good. so in a sense, it was a polished turd.

WOW, This took me way too long to see. I've had a full plate lately. EXCELLENT Review. I agree on many points. Especially with the fact that most people won't put an effort into absorbing the movie in an effort to enjoy it. It really does make you think. I mean to most people who just watch it because it's...THERE just think it doesn't make sense- IT MAKES SENSE. I swear my head veins were popping after I saw this baby. Shame the Academy doesn't recognize films like this and 300.

I understand that this movie isn't for everybody. It's the most faithful adaption of source material I have ever seen. If you haven't read the graphic novel, the first half makes no sense. In fact when I read it, it made no sense. It took me forever to read that thing. That being said I love both the gn and movie. Even though I think alan moore can go suck a big blue dong.

Okay, Dr. Manhattan is the biggest problem for most people. I've got one thing to say involving him in this review, and one of him in the movies. First, the review. Who the fuck is going to say something? He can kill you with a thought, then turn you into a bunny!! He wants to be neon-naked, let him. Second, this is gonna sound gay, but women are naked on screen a lot, to which I don't complain, but I try and keep the anti-sexism (again, I sound gay) mind, so I ignored that. You see, I'm secure.

@schmoesknow Really? I'll agree that Malin Ackerman was terrible, but if you know anything about the comic book, you'll know that Matthew Goode did an amazing job.

Then again, you have to cut Ackerman some slack. For most of the movie she was either getting laid, arguing with Dr. Manhattan, or some strange combination of the two.

HA HA HA! That is exactly what I thought of the film. The movie was pretty much sugar coated in special effects to make up for it complex story. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was no doubt the life of this film, he made the comedian. Indeed this is a film that you have to work at. FYI, before the scene where Ozymandias was about to be killed by his fake assassin, when he was talking to some people in the lounge, the song 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World" was playing (epic foreshadowing). NO! BLUE DONGS!

Thought it was briliant although maybe a bit to long for its own good. Imo the bravest superhero movie so far, I loved the "raw" gore they showed you and I didnt have any problems with the characters. I dont think there was a single moment that we werent able to understand the guy with the mask? You didnt see a cam version did you? :P Anyway, this is my favo hero movie so far, no more mr nice guy plots who are saving their girls etc. I loved it! thanks for the review

You are 100 percent right that he has a raspy voice BUT Rorschach has some of the coolest dialogue in the Graphic Novel, I think that as good as Earl was, a lot of his stuff was lost in the mumbling.

The comment about it being like watching a painting didn't surprise me... though it's kind of crushed my only hope for the movie. Zack Snyder is such a cgi addict, it meets that disturbing point where you're not sure if it's funny or wrong... I'm sure there's probably plenty of that in Watchmen, just from what you guys mentioned.

Sounds like The Dark Knight still remains to be one of the best comic-based films of all time... oh well, can't hide my disappointment.... huzzah! XD

GI JOE- I was a HUGE fan of the comic as a kid, I think Steven Sommers is going to mutilate this movie, I am thinking Van Helsing style. Knowing, verdict is still out.

Trasformers- I didn't like # 1. I will see 2 in hopes that Bay is drugged and someone else directs
