Not a Russell fan, seen enough to judge fairly but the reason why Eric was subtly saying "GO RUSSELL!" was becasuse at that point (like most of Galu except a few members) he clued in once on the jury as to who was really playing. Russell loses because of his social game but get's points for cunning instincts

IMO, it would've been more epic if we didn't know he had the idol. Like the whole episode we thought he was gonna go and they never showed him finding it so when he stood up it was a shock for everyone watching.

If you look at all the seasons of Survivor, most of the winners actually did ride coattails and hide behind more aggressive players to get no blood on their hands - again, this is a popularity contest, and only the opinions of the other players matter. She won, so she's good. For all of the whining that Russell is great and should have won and the rules should be changed - that's not the game he signed up for!

He's certainly one of the most aggressive and controlling, but the game of Survivor is played where you have to get to the end (which he's good at) AND make people vote for him (which he's terrible at). Like it or not, the rules clearly turn it into somewhat of a popularity contest, and he's so abrasive and unlikeable that he never won. Under-the-radar social players like Natalie and Earl might be less entertaining, but they're better: they won.

It's hard to talk about these things separately, because they go hand in hand. Because of his strategy, Russell wasn't able to make those relationships and that's why he lost both times.

Best strategy wise, best knowledge of the game, best everything, BUT the social thing is the problem. It's so hard to even count how many incredible blindsides or plays Russell has made in just 2 seasons of Survivor. This one would rank second to the Tyson blindside. But both had unforgettable reactions. I LOVE Dave Ball's reaction...haha. Russell should have won both his seasons. The game is NOT about making friends on the jury. The jury should vote for who outwit, outplayed, and outlasted the best and not be so bitter. What a shame.

Russell is seriously lacking in that skill and hence will never win. Too bad. He played a great strategic game but when you're sorely lacking in one aspect of a game, chances are you can't win.

No doubt, the BEST survivor moment of that season, probably ever. The only thing that would've made it PERFECT is if Laura hadn't won the immunity challenge and Russell blindsided her with the immunity idol like he did with Kelly, cause I hated Laura so much, you could see that devil look in her eyes. But still a great play from Russell, my favorite villain on this season.

See in season 20 Russell was the best and Parvati made moves that deserve to give her a million but no, it`s survivor, it`s with humans so not the best player win. In season 8 Rob literally trained others survivor, in 20 He was the boss in his tribe and a Russell made him lose.
