just wondering. How is it possible for pipe smokers to be able to somehow stop this tax hike from happening when pipe smokers are less than 1 percent of the population?
We have to try to stop it. There are a lot of people who have signed the petition who do not smoke pipe tobacco. They are just sick and tired of everyone in this country being over taxed. I believe that pipe smokers make up more than 1% of the population, but even 1% is still a lot of people. We have to make our voices heard and stop standing around in silence.
@KripDrip Same argument, why should Congress spend their time drafting, reviewing, debating, revising, voting again, eventually ratifying... a tax that only affects less than probably .01% of the population, generate minimal revenue, and likely not even offset the cost in time to get it passed in the first place? Likewise, a tax directed at an individual product may be determined to be a direct tax.
what the fuck is wrong w/ this pic? these cock suckers r sucking money anyway they can from the tax payers.....someone should go boondox saints and take out this shit.......at least the mafia has respect....these fuckers need to die!!! enough is enough....what the fuck is next? candy bars, cerials....then meat...then? some people need to die....this just is enough already....why don't they start stealing peoples wallets like other crooks.
@KripDrip we are all pissed about these taxes and like stated pipe smokers make up a very small percentage of people the pipe tobacco market is very, very small and is not asking for this increase
pipe smokers need to pay their fair share. Having ryo tobacco taxed at $25 per pound and pipe tobacco taxed at only $2 per pound is unfair. This huge disparity is a loophole for cigarettes smokers to switch to pipe tobacco and use that to roll their cigarettes. The only way to make it fair is to raise the pipe tobacco tax to $25 just like ryo tobacco. Pipe smokers are usually rich as they can easily afford it.
Honestly if this bill passed I would only be paying an extra $1.50 - $6.00 on tobacco because the most tobacco I've bought or will ever buy is 128 grams, a.k.a. I never buys large bulks of tobacco like 8 oz or 1 lb bags
Yeah were all fuked! At least you have a tactical vid...nt anyway. I'll give it 3 months before it passes. Voters hate all forms of tobacco and our elected reps and tors don't really care. This is really a cigarette company lobbied bill. Makes me feel sick.
Thank you for posting this vid. I emailed my congressman a month back and received a generic email response. I will now send a letter by mail. This tax will just backfire if it goes through which like most is hoping it doesn't get passed. Thanks again.
Thanks for this public service Kevin! This tax increase is beyond insane! It makes me wonder WHAT those numbskull congressmen who proposed this bill were smoking in THEIR pipes!!!
I think it's great everything's set up and all you've got to do is spend a short amount of time to make your feelings known to your government representatives - hope all you folks in the States watching this will become pro-active - believe me, when you pay $25, $30, $35 or more for a mere 50grams of pipe tobacco, you'll've wished you'd acted - go get 'em, eh!! MM
Looks like if it passes the law would make the tax on pipe tobacco about $24-25 per pound (if I read it correctly). What is that on a 50 gram tin? About $5 extra per tin vs what we pay now I guess. We're being punished because of the RYO loophole.
If you don't see the link below, look near the top right of the page here. It is just below where it says, "Stop a 775% Tax Increase on Pipe Tobacco! "
stop all tabacco taxes now give the smokers a break.
set down and talk to your kids about smoking at a young age. to stop underage smoking .smokers rights
taxing is not the answer its a stop gap measure on the issue.people choose to smoke or quit on their own not by "influences".

Thanks for spearheading this campaign against yet another tobacco tax increase - this particular tax is out of control.
I encourage everyone to choose the option to send letters with your emails.
