I wish we could back movies like this, all we have now are ghetto banging movies, stupid fantasy movies. no wonder the kids of today are screwed in the head
This movie made me want to be successful. I got a job at Wal-Mart as a greeter, but I fooled everyone when I pretended to be the CEO of Wal-Mart. Then I banged his wife and we bought a lot of stock. Then I stayed the weekend at the CEO's house, and I talked to all his rich friends and despite my lack of knowledge about anything relevant, they all gathered around me and listened to me talk while nodding their heads.
Then I became CEO of Wal-Mart for real and married some golddigger. END.
The plot of this movie was so unique and offbeat, it had to be successful. Think of the great 80's movies, they were all great because they were fresh - Weird Science, Secret of My Success, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc. They had never done movies about those things before, or targeted that demographic of 12 to 21 year olds. The movies were at the same time contemporary and timeless. This is probably my all-time favorite movie.
@MeBenHalpin: This is true of the film is very funny, in fact it is impossible brantlin what he did, any one would have had neither the courage and the will to do such a life XD
but that's why I like this movie, do not ever do such crazy things you would see in real life, or in any other film
@TheFurios94 Your right this film certainly is one in its own, Michael J Fox plays wheeler dealer Brantley so well, certainly don't make movies this good anymore.
@MeBenHalpin I liked this movie, I like the way things are here addresses Brantley and her being so mad, if he had not been so the film would not be what it is
@egoadefonso although Family Ties ended in 1989 and not 1987, I always think of this as the sequel to Family Ties. I could imagine Alex running into such misadventures, except Brantley is less cocky.
Yea it was cheesy, but it was what i grew up with, and I loved MJ Fox, he was so enthusiastic in all of his performances. This scene and song in particular always made me think that anything is possible.
I soooo loved this movie when I was younger. Still do. I didn't peep the fact that Vera was setting Howard up to be replaced during this scene. You knew she was getting rid of him. LOL
