  • Wonderful work and nice sculpt, how did you get the muscle texture on your muscles? Whenever I use the maya muscle shader my model turns green but it doesn't show the red and white muscle texture that you have. Could you please explain how you got the muscle effect on your model.

  • hi,adomyip,you get the shoulders to move so nicely!!and I I spent a lot of time to it,but still can not get right deformation,because the maya muscle just have 3 state:rest , squash,stretch. but the shoulder move a lot.you say do not use blendshape,how you solve it? I am from guangzhou ,thanks :)

  • @1987halu u are right , there are only 3 state can be used in cMuscle. So what I did is , apply the stretch or squash to the most important pose, then find other ways to fix the others poses, maya muscle is a very limited system, u always have to make a choice. good luck~

  • Hi there, I am a student in production at school and I'm a TA using cgmuscle, I was hoping you could help me with a problem - I have most of the system figured out but sometimes the system just wigs out and my muscle squashing/stretching occurs in the wrong places and that muscle node is now worthless and needs to be remade to get it working again. Any advise? Cheers

  • @jtrigging sorry , I dont really get you , are you talking an other pugin 'cgmuscle'? Im using cMuscle so I dont know what problem you got. btw , I have never got the problem u said while using cMuscle, but my advise is , try to read the help/technical documents of the system and find out the reason, try difference ways to setup your muscles until It work properly. To be a good Rigger , you should also be a problem solver.

  • what version of maya is this, is the muscle an addon or comes with it

  • @bladerj if you have maya 2011 or newer, the maya muscles come with it. If you have anything older it's a plugin you'll have to download. Hope that helps.

    1) How did you do the self collision trick?

    2) How does it work in real-time? Meaning, is it slow to use when animating?? Guessing from all the dynamics (skin sliding) it should;

    1, maya muscle have the self collision function already.

    2, it always depends, how much buget u have , how detail u want . For this showreel , I dont care is it slow or not , i just wanna show the best shape I can do, and it actually petty slow ... with my 2 years old laptop :)

  • @chovasie Thanks and good point! u really see what I did. I always say , the most important ability of a rigger is not how storng of your scripting, how many tools you know, how complicated setting you can make... but just how much can you see, once you can see what is good and what the shape should be, u can find the way to do it , even it may take time and hard.

    may say too much, ha.

    for ur question , I didn't develop any new muscle objects, all stuffs is come from maya default, but of cause I've did something to make it work better.
