  • Magical feeling !!!!...AGAIN !

  • animation films were so better back then

  • @MsIndent cause they were hand drawn and not cgi ;)

  • To hear a dark and previously banned version of 'The Snowman' Check my channel ;-)

  • I cry when I hear this </3

  • I always cry at the end oft his film :'( it's sad... love the song though, compleatly beautiful

  • lolol wheres this guy from? He rolls all his Rs! He's like the 'childrrrrrren'!! Beautiful song!

  • @lionsoulkopa Wales

  • @lionsoulkopa England

  • @lionsoulkopa He sounds Welsh, in the way he intones his vowels. Rolling Rs is also a characteristic of Welsh singing and speech. It's actually Peter Auty, who is English. It isn't Aled Jones (a Welsh singer) on the original soundtrack, but he did a cover version.

  • @nazrina1000 Eng? Waarom?

  • Geweldige kerstfilm!! Ken het al mijn hele leven. Krijg er nog steeds tranen van in mijn ogen.

  • @raoulfreriks Vind je het niet en beetje eng deze lied ??

  • What is it about a snowman that is so endearing? They're just so irresistably cute :3

  • Such a wonderful film. I always used to watch it when I was a child on Channel 4 every Christmas Eve, wonderful to see they still broadcast it even now, so more children can see what a truly magical time Christmas can be ! :) God Bless, have a wonderful Christmas with your family/friends or what ever you do! XD

  • we see it a lot across different youtube videos about people saying "why does this have a dislike button"? but really why does this have a dislike button and which heartless human could not love this

  • This is the best song ever! <3

  • there are no words which can describe how emotional it is at the end when the kid runs outside and the snowman is melted and the music begins playing :(

  • Sometimes I cannot watch this because I get a lump in my throat!! It is one of my alltime faves though.

  • awww I remember this song from my childhood days!! thnkz for uploading this song!!! xx

  • This song is soooooooooooooooo special

  • brings back such gd memories, i wanna be a child again :(

  • Reminds me of when i was younger.. <3

  • Beautiful, moving, but the rolled R's spoil it to some extent for me.

They're so over the top! I have no idea why that's considered good technique... if it is. It just sounds ridiculous.

  • @greyztone I think his Welsh accent contributed to the rolled R's some what!

  • Hahaha!! Gutted!!!

  • my all time fav song ever

  • at the end of it when they hug ( snowman and boy ) it looks like harry potter and hagrid lol

  • oh, lovely♥

  • Pure nostalgia. Makes me wish I could go back and see myself mesmerized by this masterpiece, sat in front of t.v in a warm room, whilst snow was trickling outside.

  • I love how in the movie the boy gives the snowman a hug goodnight. I think that is so important. You never know..."little thing" mean a lot! He obviously didn't know his snowman would be gone the next day but he did the right thing and let him know he loved him...always take the time to say I love you because life is short and the Lord only knows when our time will come.

  • @blanchefful well said (mean well written).lol

  • What is it about this song that is so wonderful and captivating? It has to be one of the best children's shortfilms in history.

  • Peter Auty is a great singer.

  • i shed a tear watching this, its something i used to watch every day when i was little and i havent seen it or heard it once since then. Its so magical, watching it makes me want to cry

  • What I love about this is that it's peaceful and properly paced.

We are now in a fast paced society. What most of today's movies, television shows, or short films should do once in a while is ... slow down. Take a moment and fill each 3 seconds with fully developed story, characters, and beautiful music. And we can slow down and have beautiful moments and memories. :)

  • i always lay in bed dreaming about singin this song aswell as he did

  • wtf is there to dislike

  • Pure Epicness, best of British, and if it's not British, well we prob had something to do with it.

  • @codownni It is English, I'm so sure that it is English.

  • No wonder I liked this so much when I was a kid.

  • This sounds so difficult to sing.

No wonder no cover has gotten close to this.

  • Blackmore`s version is good too!!!

  • its not christmas without this film

  • u gotta love the originals... this song is touching..=(

    enybody got a tissue?

  • im only 14 and i think thats abs leathall

  • this was sung by Peter Auty . No one seems to give him credit...

  • Thank you for posting :)

  • does anyone know the tempo of the piece?

    :)

  • @elboonio

my bpm counter says 93 bpm

  • @karl8642 thanks a lot! :D

  • pile of wank

  • @bosslyff noticed the rest of the comments ideot boy, me thinks your the wank !

  • @respectforyou1 me thinks ur mums tits

  • Many childhood memories of watching this with my mother. Beautiful and sad.

  • @NoSc0pez

I take it you didn't feel this connection he/she is talking about so passionately.

  • @KingofScotland100

It's set within Brighton. That building is there and was built in the style of Russian architecture.

  • I cried when I saw the snowman disappeared.

  • There is something magical about this film.

  • wow its stunning and heartwarming :D

  • Truely a work of art.

A film and song with such emotional impact.

It will always be a classic, and will forever remain one of the most beautiful combinations of film and song.

  • Man I can't believe I still remember this from 1993. Even then this song brought tears and joy.

  • el que no llorop con esa pelicula o no la vio es un locoo¡¡¡¡

  • such a lovley song

  • @ValxPal nope borin

  • @TheRapidAdrian STFU douchebag

  • U should

  • I sAw this at school and the song walking in the air makes me cry

  • I still have this movie and it still makes me cry at the end

  • I have the VHS and will drag it out to play today, Christmas. My all time favorite Christmas film.

  • The Snowman is truelly a master piece. The animations with the fantastic music, it combines so well. truelly a (underrated) masterpiece. Fantastic.

  • @Robinzorz under rated!?

  • @zedooncadhz Well, ofcourse it's highly rated, and it should be. But what I meant was, a lot of people my age(im 19) don't know it, or just don't really care about it. And I feel that's a bit sad, because it's so beautyful. Maybe it's because I love in the Netherlands, and where you come from it's bigger.. I don't know:)

Let's just agree on the fact that The Snowman is fantastic!

  • @Robinzorz I'm 20 :) definitely a big deal here, always used to be on at christmas, sadly not any more :( But yes i agree its a christmas classic :)

  • A real masterpiece.

  • i watch this every christmas cos its just so beautiful!

  • How about giving a credit to Peter Auty (the singer)?

  • wow brings bk memories. :) they dnt give it on tele now:(

    merry christmas :)

  • omfg its been more then 10 years since i heard this song. it gives me tears.

  • i loved this song back in the kindergarten days =), now im in gr.11 and have lots of work =(

  • ~drifting back to my childhood~ :)

  • siempre hay algo que aprender,no sabia que esta canción fuera del espiritu navideño...algo triste ; soy de la generación de los 80`s donde despues de ver caricaturas terminabas deprimido y buscando a una mama perdida

  • I am going to use this to infuse some Christmas spirit within. Sadly I tend to succumb to anxety during the season and tend to turtle. This poignant piece magically brings a smile to my lips; warms my heart and reminds me how very fortunate I am even to exist; to hear the sheer poety of this music and to revel in the emotions it evokes! Merry Christmas to you and yours and blessings for a Safe, Healthy Happy New Year. Peace.

  • Just favorited it. Awesome and memorable soundtrack. I wish I could have a love button on youtube.

  • Loved this since i was 4. im now 25 and ive never missed it once at christmas...its epic!

  • @seggaman123 Same Here.

  • the reason aled jones was used in the snow man video was because Peter Auty voice had broke

  • awsome voice

  • This kid is an awesome singer!and never got credit at first!

  • i love 2 watch this but its not my type of music :)

  • I am going to build a snowman tomorrow with my wife for the first time since I was a kid - made me think of this.

  • i cry everytime i watch the snowman ♥

  • @Paytaahh it's a frequently watched video so i thought that i would get a quick answer.

  • @Paytaahh uuuh no howard blake is the one who wrote and conducted the pieces of music for this film so your wrong. The person who sings is Peter Auty(i found this out a little after i typed my question before). Know you stuff before you say something =/.

  • childrenhood is coming back

  • i wonder who is the boy that sings this?

  • the first time I saw The Snowman was just before my first Christmas without my Grandmother whom had raised me. I made an instant connection with the loss I felt, and the loss the boy felt. That was when I was 11 in 1984, I am 37 now and it still makes me weep at the end when we discover the snowman has gone, but I can also connect now with scarf the boy has left, for although my Grandmother is gone, I have many warm memories of time spent with her that will never leave me. Thanks :)

  • @poohjo1999 That is a fantastic comment

thank you for sharing your childhood with us.

    Regards.

  • Remembering dad, he loved this animation, watched it religiously each year. Although he was not a very religious man, he still believed in the spirit of christmas and thought christmas should be for everyone - a time to put differences aside, share with each other the joys of giving and receiving not only gifts but the love we hold deep in our souls.

Merry christmas dad, where ever you be - hopefully checking out those northern lights; the one's we never got the chance to go and see together

  • Is this the original song used for the animated film?

    Thank you

  • Oh another thing. I remember watching this as kid and my parents noticing that the kid barely puts anything on to go out in the snow. "kids dont feel the cold do they" they said as he goes outside in England in winter. But this kid's quite comfortable still when he gets to the NORTH POLE in pajamas and a dressing gown. Must be hard as nails. Mind you I probably wouldnt mind if it involved partying with snowmen.

  • @MegaMcClarey Funny thing about magic......it ALWAYS makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside !

  • isnt this set on Christmas Eve? what the hell's santa doing partying with snowmen? Shouldn't he be very busy right now... and erm not at the north pole. Would explain why I didnt get what I wanted on several occaisions. I'm too old for presents now. its all about gettin drunk with snowmen... I mean my friends.

  • I sang this song at the Brighton arena when i was 9

    so moving.

  • Anybody can explain what accent is this? R sounds like russian one so hard

  • @shtirlic76tube i do belive the singer is english

  • @brennnalove May be. But a rare englishman speaks such R sound. I'm quite sure he's not russian but the pronunciation confuses.

  • @shtirlic76tube The singer is english- peter auty in this case, although another (almost identical released) version is by aled jones who is welsh, which may explain any strange r sound you hear.

  • @TonkinPhilos Could you explain, is this the correct pronunciation or it's just an artistic perfomance to empress the spectators & listeners? Sorry for my english, I'm not a native english speaker.

  • So loving *sniffle*

  • Tää on ihana ku tulee joka JOULU

  • This is not the voice I expected to hear when I saw his name was Howard Blake.

  • They show this program every christmas in Finland and I watch it every time. I'm 23 years now...

  • @dekuyu iam 42 and i still love it

  • This song has been sang by nightwish I guess after the Showman!

  • 9:26 :'(

  • damn... good childhood memories :) *sniffle*

  • brings back some memories 'sniff sniff'

  • Oh my God, this is nostalgia. We used to watch this in elementary school.

I'm about to cry right now.

  • This was everything that I enjoyed about the tales of Christmas! "Take away the consumption of "things we don't need" And what is left are the tales of supernatural adventure laced with the promise of mental gratitude.

  • This is such a beautiful, magical animation. The child in all of us is enchanted at the little boy's adventure. Yes, the dear old snowman melts at the end, but let's not get too analytical. After all, we cannot expect snowmen to survive for long! Just enjoy the simple magic of the night that the little boy met Father Christmas. The main melody always moistens my eyes, and Peter Auty's perfect enunciation is clear as a bell. Oh, that we could all remain children in our hearts, if not our bodies.

  • I love the Snowman. I saw this for the first time in 7th grade. I thought it was the most beautiful yet depressing thing I had ever seen. inspirational to say the least. love it!

  • Beautiful work. Lovable characters, great animation, mesmerizing music & a lovely ending. Truely Awesome! Is this a mix of 2d and 3d?

  • This movie The Snowman is very beautiful but also depressing, because it deals with the topic death

  • Bitch can roll her R's

  • @KevinKlovesya

Acutally that's a little boy singing....

  • @LizzyChan101 I thought it was a chick singing in a weird tone, but that makes a lot more sense

  • @KevinKlovesya

Yeah.... I think his name's Peter Auty... my mom thinks he was part of a boy's choir...... which apparently popular in England......

  • @LizzyChan101 Peter Auty was a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral at the time.

  • @Elph1e

    Ahhh That would do it.

  • So sad that the snowman melts in the end. Such is life, I suppose: all good things must come to an end.

  • For me it was the Cat Face episode on New Grounds. The critic got me to watch some other movies though

  • @starbeastrave
