I'd rather have the one that gives in bumps. Would you lock your knees over bumps or have them bent ready to give to absorb shock?

Notice the chain moves the same amount up and down and the dérailleurs keep the chain line (on the same gear).

Extra chain tension is a source of wasted energy due to higher friction, so a stiff spring isn't a good thing. The 2011 Dynasys system from Shimano reduces chain tension even more.

Shimano = smoother, quieter, longer lasting

were derailleurs intended to be used with chain tensioners for single ring? i am thinking of goign to single or dual ring for my full sus and even my hardtail as chain slap on hardtails is awful. when running single ring can you still use most of the rear gears

I had a shimano derailleur on my old bike, switched to sram now, for the X-0, and it's just soooooooo much better, would never ever buy that shimano derailleur ever again, but the X-0 fucking rocks!! if you have the money that is (220€)

you guys do know that both still have the same amount of chain slap onto the frame right? the movement of the dérailleur it self has nothing to do with how much the chain is moving, or slapping against the frame.
