@Wolvve I've camping in heavy rain and the tarp held up well. I've never been in heavy rain and wind. I imagine you'll get a little wet. Although if you have a waterproof bivy sack you could minimize the water some more.
@disillusions I used it about half the time when I was camping. When the terrain wasn't possible to lay a tent down, or I was too tired to setup my whole tent

Great vid. Very informative! mayb a personal question but that house in the background.. is that yours? and if so its beautiful.. what do you do for a living!? thanks.
what is your favorite this hammock or a nice Nemo Morpho tent that you made a video on it??? i prefer the tent because it feels more secure and with a hammock if you don't have trees what do you do???
@psypc3 If I had to pick one or the other, I would go with the tent. The hammock is a nice, but it also packs so small that I don't think it's a problem to back both.
Thanks for the review. What a neat set up! I keep trying to find use for it in my camping expos. Usually its high altitude and rough country. Probably too cold. its just such a good design, I'm just annoyed that I don't have enough reasons to buy one.

Met the maker of these hammocks back in 1999. bought his first two off the production line and they are great! amazingly simple and light. am glad to see he has made these new onws even better. thanks for the vids...
Right on, thanks for reviewing/demonstrating that, I bought one a little while back already and got a free scout hammock with it but haven't set it up yet.
Great review. Long sleeves? Yikes, you have to be hot. I live in Arkansas, 101 degrees with 100 percent humidity, it will suffocate, no way I could do long sleeves. I'm sure the air is much drier there in Arizona. Cool shoes, I'll have to check those out.
@psypc3 I failed to mention it, but the hammock has extra strings attached at the bottom that you could secure to some stakes in the ground for more stability if conditions are windy
interesting hammock.it looks practical.funny shoes.i want to get a pair of those.where can i get them?(i am from Romania and i think i cant find them here.) and watch out for the cactus.:)
@medlinsrednose Im not a redneck. I dont mudbog, "raise chickens", or talk about auto repair every 5 mins. Only animal part ive sucked was a "female" cow utter, and yeah real milk came out of it.
Can you hook it up to a couple of Saguaro cactus if there are no trees around?
It keeps you off the ground so you don't have to worry about rattle snakes. LOL
Seriously I think it's a good idea. It would be great for a quick campsite. It also will keep you off the ground in a storm. Not sure if I would buy one. I can see where it would come in handy if you are concerned about weight and volume when it comes to pack a bike for travel, and you know there will be trees around.
@pulse0000 The shade does of course, but the mosquito netting restricts air flow a bit. I'm thinking of taking it to a tailor to see if they can install a zipper so I can take the mosquito netting on or off.
@AtlasRider Probably the easier way to do that is take a pair of scissors or a knife and cut along the edge and then take a strip of velcro and attach it along the base of the netting and where you cut the netting away from.
A user on advrider.com by the name of thecanoeguy used one of these while riding around Europe. He was impressed buy it also. I think I'll check one of these out. :)
If you like the idea of hammock camping, also check out the warbonnet blackbird. It is very popular among hammock campers and you can find good info at hammockforums
Every time I go camping I sleep horribly...I can't imagine hanging and trying to balance myself in a hammock is going to be restful.

Just out of curiosity - did you end up using this hammock for the bulk of your trip?

@chrisNova777 If you google "REI compression sack" it should point you to the right page. THey should have the straps on it

@chrisNova777 I happened to be in REI today. I confirmed that it is a 15L compression sack.

tree included?
XghostriderrX 1 year ago
Wow, that thing is ROOMY! But, you failed to mention any sort of ball-park price in your video! Lol... for some of us, price is very important.
Personally, I've always liked very lightweight tents, but that might be because I'm from the great plains, and trees are hard to come by out here.
Hempage 1 year ago
@Hempage I was hoping for a price too, that's an interesting alternative to a tent :D
Too bad trees aren't included...
cokecan500 1 year ago
@Hempage Sorry, it goes for about $160

@AtlasRider That sounds about right. If I had the money to spare for one, I'd probably get it, even if the trees aren't included!
