After Health South backed out who was their major financial backer, they didn't have them money to run the company and the ppvs. Jerry also wanted out because his health was failing and couldn't afford to gamble with his savings. Jeff didn't have the money to run the company alone.  So Jerry sold sold his share to the Carters. Jeff sold most of his share as well. If they hadn't sold, TNA would have went out of business.
