Helen was very great indeed and in many styles, a phenomenal natural voice. However for me Dusty Springfield was even greater still. Both should stay in our hearts and minds forever!
The version of this song on the original vinyl soundtrack is not the same. It's sung by Craig Douglas only. And the version I have by him on a greatest hits CD is not the same as the one on the soundtrack. It makes you wonder how many versions there were. I like this one though - it should have been on the original LP, along with many other songs featured in the movie like Double Trouble by the Brook Brothers.
I can't say that I really like the song but I have had a whole new world opened up to me on this web site with Craig Douglas, Billy Fury and Helen Shapiro etc. While a lot of it is covers of American recordings it's still good I like to hear a different rendition of one of my teenage favorites as long as it's good Thanks for the postings
Helen & Craig used to appear often together in the films they made (a bit like Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello). But its good to see Craig still bringing in the crowds. Great performance by Sounds Incorporated; they were a truly world class backing band - pity they slit
I have loved this movie since the first time I saw it on TCM two years ago. This is a timeless classic and I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves great music. That being said, this is my favorite song from the whole movie.
I have an LP called 'It's Trad Dad', and the song is on there - although I have to say that Gene McDaniel's 'Another Tear Falls', became my favourite track.
Helen didn't need to have the camera focus on her "bum" with a face as cute as she has!!! It was someone else in my opinion.....here is another example of a song becoming "stuck," in my head!!! By the way, the sax notes at the end will open your sinuses up!!!
Piggie: I love the vocal on this song.....but the last sax notes.....my teeth rattle!!!! I love the sax but Lord......who in the world though those high notes would make the song better?......Helen is in a dress and not the slacks that they show.....am I right? Thanks for all the hard work you do for your fans....
Thanks for the info, Piggie, but it is YOU that I owe. I owe you, BIG TIME....I am having a ball sending your videos of Helen to people all over America...even a couple of Harvard grads!!! And thanks for the correspondence. I'm new at this and a bit overwhelmed by Helen so I tend to go on a bit!!!
I dont think it is available on DVD. I only got hold of this one from an Australian girl on YouTube, who had it in her collection. And she offered it to me, because she only specialises in Australian Stars on her page.
The film was released in America in 1962, but under a different name "RING A DING RHYTHM".
Helen....why did American not fall in love with you? I love love love this woman!!! GOD BLESS YOU HELEN. THIS OLE TEXAN IS TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT YOU!!!
MANY THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!!!!! 100% FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

Nice to see Mr Jacobs, Mr Murray and the charming Mr Freeman in the audience.
This video demonstrates what a world class singer Ms Shapiro was and no doubt still is (the best female singer the UK has ever produced).

Piggie: Is this song on a cd?
Hello from Texas!!!
LaVerne37 3 years ago
As far as I know it's not on any of Helen's C.D.s (I have 7). It might possibly be on one of Craig Douglas's.

Yes, I think it would have been unseemly :0 in 1962 to have a camera focused on a 15 year olds bum. hehe
