I actually don't follow boxing, unless it's pacquiao or mayweather (Im filipino). Tyson is also one of my favs b/c he was short/small for his weightclass, not mention powerful. I watch MMA, but I love watching boxing because it's the sweet science...it's just way more technical then MMA, where fighters swing for the fences, hoping to get a lucky KO-punch. In boxing there's always a way to beat your opponent's size/length advantage with solid technique.

And for all the things you just said - only the top fighters (the champs, really) do all those things with PERFECT technique. I'm talking edgar (great all around fighter), gsp (all around), silva (muay thai), velasquez(boxing/wrestling), penn(boxing/bjj). And of those, I'd consider only edgar and GSP the most technical cuz they can put all martial arts together very well - w/o getting hit.
yea this guy was something special, most definitely the greatest of our era mid 80sand 90s. i loved surgar ray lenards quickness as well. I remember stories of ali when i was really young,he detroyed alot of good boxers. But with iron mike i was bless you see as a teen, the way he struck fear in the hearts of his opponents after that first meeting in the center of the ring, just before the bell. He repeatedly crushed them with those amazing haymakers and power. i'll never forget it.
MT was no joke! He could've killed anybody in any given match. He hit fighters like he had that intention. Very few fighters got up before the count after being hit with a combination of a right uppercut to the liver and a devastating left hook to the jaw by Mike.

Getting hit by Mike in his prime was like getting hit with a wooden baseball bat, with a lightning quick barrage in your head......... And there was no escaping the punishment, he would box you in and corner and slip in effortlessly with some of the best head movement ever demonstrated and lock on to his prey like the pitbull he was and not let up...... Greatest of All Time, Mike in his prime would have folded any of the "greats" like a lawn chair......

@Kaous10 I couldn't have said it better myself. Mike Tyson brought power and speed to the heavyweight division that had never been matched before and never will be matched again. Not only that be his style included the perfect blend of offense and defense. He learned this from the best Cus D'amato, my favorite quote of Cus is "You gotta be smart, you gotta be clever, and not get hurt, and if you can do that you're a fighter" and that is exactly what mike was

I actually don't follow boxing, unless it's pacquiao or mayweather (Im filipino). Tyson is also one of my favs b/c he was short/small for his weightclass, not mention powerful. I watch MMA, but I love watching boxing because it's the sweet science...it's just way more technical then MMA, where fighters swing for the fences, hoping to get a lucky KO-punch. In boxing there's always a way to beat your opponent's size/length advantage with solid technique.

Listen - I'm not gonna get into an argument here. It's just my opinion, that's all.
And for all the things you just said - only the top fighters (the champs, really) do all those things with PERFECT technique. I'm talking edgar (great all around fighter), gsp (all around), silva (muay thai), velasquez(boxing/wrestling), penn(boxing/bjj). And of those, I'd consider only edgar and GSP the most technical cuz they can put all martial arts together very well - w/o getting hit.

yea this guy was something special, most definitely the greatest of our era mid 80sand 90s. i loved surgar ray lenards quickness as well. I remember stories of ali when i was really young,he detroyed alot of good boxers. But with iron mike i was bless you see as a teen, the way he struck fear in the hearts of his opponents after that first meeting in the center of the ring, just before the bell. He repeatedly crushed them with those amazing haymakers and power. i'll never forget it.

MT was no joke! He could've killed anybody in any given match. He hit fighters like he had that intention. Very few fighters got up before the count after being hit with a combination of a right uppercut to the liver and a devastating left hook to the jaw by Mike.
