yup...i even have an eco but has high miles...so eventually swaping in a new one and boosting it.
also you ride the clutch too much... you dont need to floor it in low gear while turning. its easy to see from the movement on your tach.
less clutch = good.

there is no point in tuning a 2200 engine, swap it for a 2.2 eco with a getrag tranny. thats what im gonna do eventually once my LD9 gives up.
