Basically, it's a combination of a wide angle upper-cut combined with a jab. It works especially well if you are in a low stance, knees bent, and then rising up with the upside down jab. There is no corkscrew motion with this punch.
Is throwing haymakers in boxing bad? I mean like the overhand right? Can't experienced boxers see those punches coming because they're usually wide swings.
actually the overhand right is not a haymaker, it is a carefully timed and calculated precision punch. you nevr just walk in and throw it, its to easy to avoid, but it is meant only as a counter punch. it comes over top of the opponents jab, thats why it travels in an arc
Overhand rights are extremely devastating when timed and set up correctly just like all punches. There are certain instances when throwing frequent overhand rights can ruin an opponent, like when you're the shorter fighter going up against a much taller fighter.
@boxing4free i disagree..some very skilled fighters dont have the hard for real fights,in sports they re awesome but is not the same fighting in rings than fighting someone that is gona kill u
@1789crazy Hey bro. i dont know what u are up to but if "very skilled fighter" get into "real" street fight with someone Who is jst going to "kill You", that someone will get killed in less than 10 seconds. you obviously dont know shit? or can you clarify what you are saying?
depends what effects you're lookin for, in my opinion if you want a knockout then go for a hook or if you wanna stun them then jab em in the side of the face but for the best knockout i always find the best method is duckin under a right hook (cos im right handed) and punching them in the temple lol
its safer to turnhand like a straight or jab wen u do hooks.
its best to have ur knuckles horizontal.
i kno both i basically always done a lot better anywhere with keeping side to side instead of up and down. the only time up and down is when mad striking in close with uppercuts. but thats wen u touch foreheads.
u get way more stability and speed which are components in ur strength.
Thanks alot. I never learned how to throw an uppercut with my lead hand before I had to stop going to the gym. Now I have a better idea of the mechanics behind it. This 40 sec video had proved more useful to me than most of the 5-10 min ones put together.
Hmm that style looks quite different from how I trained in Scotland (where the real nuts are at). You seem to be standing pretty square on to me, your body is exposed. I'm sure thats for the camera though lol, don't take it as an insult
Also, you seem to twist your hands when you punch, karate style. I never did that, but maybe you train different.
You were never told to twist the hand and clench the first right before impact is made? That always seemed like pretty basic stuff to me. Maybe it's just different training styles though.
As far as I know, the twisting of the hands is big in Cuban style. I was taught that way too from a coach borrows a lot from the Cubans. The idea is you turn your wrist at the time of impact to create a snap. Even a weaker punch can daze a guy this way.
No... well, that depends... I meant like a little simple voiceover. You know, "make sure to punch from the shoulder, and keep your other hand up to guard. Look through your eyebrows and keep your chin tucked." That sort of thing.
Actually, I cover all that on the website. Therefore, no voice over is needed. However, I may be selling videos in the near future which will have voice overs. However, the videos will have a lot more depth.
can you zoom out, i need to know what stanc eto stand in, feet positioning, because my standing is very important, thanks greta video, getting the waist movement is hard i shadow box everyday now, well ia m 30 just srated hope its not too late
it looks like you know what your talking about...im 15 and i want to be a boxing champion...i want to take part in the olympics and im 15...ive nexer had a boxing lesson...and i am starting at this age..15...do you think 4 years of hard training will get me a gold or silver or even bronze?....reply me back plz
4 years is how long I've been doing kickboxing, I'm now a brownbelt. I'm definitely not up to olympic standard right now but I've been pretty lazy. If you commit yourself and work hard, 4 years is easily enough time to get to olympic level in my opinion, especially since you're working towards a specific goal. it all depends on the individual, you seem to have a good attitude so you'll probably do well, see you in the olympics!
thanks man... :).....im the type of person who wants this goal more than anyone!!...my dedications for it is crazy...i usually thinks it is what i was born to do...and i really do wanna work hard to this goal...thank you for the advise...it did really help :)

is boxing like martial arts in the sense that the most simple move can still be devastating if perfected?
Dmalice22 3 years ago
it's always about the fighter not the art. keep that in mind

I disagree slightly. Anyone can throw a punch, but not everyone can land it. Heart is good for taking beating, skill is good for giving the beating.

88elina 4 years ago
The overhand. Don't get too wild, it's a control punch, not a haymaker.

solid technique. I like your right hook. It's got a bit of an overhand to it. Drives ppl nuts when I can land that punch consistently.

Thank you. Basically it's the overhand right, but i need to update these videos, cause this angle seems to confuse people.

Well twist the arm, not the wrist, think thats what you meant. Cause there are "no wrists in boxing" to prevent injury.
