  • Great vid. I will get my first IJ tonight, I have only had a Ball Python for 8 months and decided weeks ago that I'd like to have one of these and have been searching ever since and finally found one yesterday. I hope I am up to the challenge as I don't have any experience with these snakes. I hope I can get him desensitized without getting bit! But I hear it doesn't hurt that much. I figure oh well I guess we all need to be "broke in" eventually.

  • @azequine Hey, thanks for the comment and the feedback. Carpet pythons are really not all that different than a Ball Python except two things. A) Hatch-lings bit, aka nipping (because it doesnt hurt, and its just like a puppy that doesnt know better and B) they have a lot more energy and activity than a Ball Python.

So if you buy new born IJ, it will probably nip you a little bit, but once its grows out of that stage, it will probably never bit again. My IJ, has never bitten me.

  • @azequine As a precaution, I would encourage you to feed all your snakes pre-killed prey (aslo, never feed Carpet Pythons Mice, only feed rats), and secondly, feed all your snakes in a secondary place. Never feed pet snakes in their home enclosure, they may end up associating the top of the cage being opened, as a sign of being fed.

  • hey i got to say this is a great video! very well done

    look`s just like my ij!
